Is there anything the size of the DQG with USB?

Let us know how you like it then

I’ve been on the “eternal” quest for the most compact 18650 (side switch) light for years.

Have held off on the DQG Tiny 4th (87mm) because of reported switch failures.
Zebralight SC64 (92.5 mm) looks great but I haven’t got to the point of wanting to spend $80 on one small light.

I don’t need USB charging but I wouldn’t mind a magnetic docking charging system like on the Olight S2R.
Olight S2R………………. (105mm)…… $72.95 (but it’s too long and also expensive)

.
Here’s the smallest ones I’m aware of with built in USB charging:

Folomov EDC-C4…… (99mm)…….$49.00 Amazon.com
Nitenumen C8………. (99mm)…….$19.99 Amazon.com
Ultratac S20………… (100mm)……$25.99 https://www.amazon.com/UltraTac-Flashlight-Rechargeable-Ultra-Compact-Waterproof/dp/B078WV27B1

Unfortunately none of these offer a NW version.
I’ve been waiting at least five years for Olight to offer a NW version and they still don’t.

.
The Nitenumen C8 appears to be the same body as the Folomov EDC-C4 but with stainless bezel.
EDIT I just realized the Nitenumen the has a large-ish rectangular protruding area for the USB jack, the Folomov doesn’t. But since the switch is directly opposite, it may serve to help readily locate the switch in the dark.

I really like the stainless bezel. I’ve been trying unsuccessfully for days to get clarification from Nitenumen on the UI specifics, but language barrier seems to be an issue. In one of the photos it shows the Strobe and SOS as being “concealed” modes, however a comment in the review leads me to think otherwise.

The Ultratac S20 does have hidden strobe: Ultratac S20

.
I’m really surprised after all these years nothing has come down the pike in the size realm of the DQG Tiny 4th, I probably should just get one already and look into to reinforcing the switch, maybe with glue/epoxy or something as Argo suggested. (glue/epoxy was also brought up several times in the Tiny 4th threads, as well as re-soldering/adding solder to the switch mounting pads)

“fits a wide variety of pro and unpro 18650s”

I like them a lot, the USB charging is very accurate, and the cell is Protected, which is important to me in case I fall asleep with the light on
https://www.amazon.com/ARB-L18-2600U-rechargeable-charging-batteries-Edisonbright/dp/B01N2KKJXN
Protected, no charger needed, and does not make the flashlight useless while charging. Win Win Win

even you can change the leds….i also dont like the cool white anymore…the “non option” of get a nw instead of cw avoiding me from the buying…

it;s a pain though, if you have to remove the battery, you may as well have a charger too

wle

manker u11 has usb but it is somewhat longer and has {in my experience} a VERY poorly designed and implemented switch
mine broke and is totally unrepairable at least by me

wle

Slightly longer than the U11 and maybe not quite small enough to be relevant in this discussion, however the Manker U12 looks pretty good too:

https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Manker-U12-2000-Lumens-CREE-XHP50-II-LED-Flashlight-With-Type-C-USB-Cable-20700-Rechargeable/1406554_32840101227.html?spm=2114.12010608.0.0.5c8950954KqowP

it’s got that same crappy switch as the u11

the Nitenumen has 5 bright levels? so it mean, you have to go also trough the sos and strobo modes?? oh no…

I’m hoping it’s just the language barrier…

Take a look at photo #6 in the description on amazon (2nd to last photo) It shows Strobe and SOS as being “concealed” modes.

I’ve been trying unsuccessfully for days to get clarification from Nitenumen on the UI specifics, still awaiting an answer about that photo.

.
EDIT: Nitenumen just listed it on their website, and sadly that photo is not showing there.

tha manker u12 has one serious problem…the mcpcb as i heard is not fixed to the heatsink…so,if it rotate inside and also there is not good heatsink…

wait wait, there is amazon price for 20 dollars and on their website 120??.))) can you see it?

well now iam serious thinking about Folomov, which seems to be the highest quality,Nitenumen and Ultratac…but never seen any of them sadly.any special serious cons about this three lights??thanks

looks like the disco modes are working after double click from each of the normal modes…hmm

Today I recieved the Folomov, here are my thoughts so far:

Positive
I like the compactness
Brightness level spacing, with every press of the button it goes from L,M,H,T then T,H,M,L keep pressing and L,M,H.T etc.
The last mode memory
The tint seems to be around the 1C tint cool white semi floody like a zebralight or the C22C
The triple click for lockout
The strobe, SOS and beacon are hidden by a double click
I love the beacon on this light, wish everyone implemented it, it fades in and out.
The tactile feel of the buttons
To be able to charge it using a Micro USB cable
The power bank feature.
Protected batteries fit

Negatives
The treads and o-rings were not lubricated
You have to keep the button pressed to turn on or off (Might be good to prevent accidental turn on in pocket )
UI would have been awesome with Narsil
The led centering ring borders seem very high and blocks some of the peripheral light (Will sand it down)
The USB and the Switch look the same, if not careful you might remove the switch thinking it is the USB port
The driver looks like it was glued in place
The bezel seems to be glued shut, will try the strap wrenches.

Haven’t opened it up yet, I probably do that at a later time.

Yes I did see that, but that price is to be totally ignored, it’s just what they’re calling the “Retail” price, so that way sellers can charge basically what ever they want without the customer ever seeing a lower price from the manufacture.

For the Nitenumen? Where do you see this?

Thanks for the feedback, sounds alright except for the CW tint and long press for ON/OFF.

Thanks for the info AlexGT, I have been looking for something similar to this. I have the DQG modified with a FET-7135 driver triple xpl running NarsilM. I really would prefer something I can charge the battery up with out much hassle though in this size. Being able to charge on the go is a big plus to me. Looks like this might fit the bill.

Yeah that Jetbeam looks decent:

  • 103mm Length
  • XP-L 1080lm
  • Battery Power Indicator

However…

Not thrilled with long press for ON/OFF, and I just read it’s two seconds! Wow that’s a loooong press! (One reviewer even said it’s 3 seconds!)
Read complaints the switch is VERY difficult to locate in the dark, and to make it worse the USB flap is directly opposite feels the same as the switch.
Does double click for Turbo work from OFF? (doesn’t appear to)
Hows the tint? (One reviewer described it as: “a blazing blue beam”)
Is there no pocket clip with it?
