FW3A, a TLF/BLF EDC flashlight - SST-20 available, coupon codes public

First post updated a bit… mostly cleaning and putting current info there.

- TK

I like it. Has a Novatac look to it.

Interested.

Add me to the list for one, please!

Thanks!
The link to TLF is the order thread.
Can you add the discussion thread too, please?

I’m #542 on the list…can you please put me down for a second one.

Thanks

Please put me on the list for two please!

Is the clip in the pictures off-the-shelf? I’ve got a couple lights that it might fit.

If it’s possible, please add me for 1 unit.

Done. Thanks for for the link.

It’s custom for this specific light, and does not come off without disassembling the tail half of the light.

Interest list updated.

That’s impressive. Natural language processing is tough stuff (or so I’ve heard). On the other hand, how about setting a recognizable pattern and inform everyone to include in the request?

Btw been a while since I last read this thread, now I’d like to book 2 more (already in for 1).

Thanks!

Hi TK,

About muggle-mode. Without following too much discussion about Anduril and maybe repeating a thought process already finished, I just took the time to read the current Anduril firmware in the second post, and based on some discussion on BLF and my own experience, I think that disconnecting the power to get out of muggle mode makes it too easy. It will make me not lending the light out to muggles if simply opening the battery compartment or even loosening the tailcap will make the FW3A into something frightening for them.

Maybe another six clicks to get out of muggle mode would do the trick, instead of disconnecting the power. I think that muggle mode is recognisable enough for flashoholics (or else it may need a subtile visible marker somehow during operation) that they will realise that they are in it and have to perform the six-clix to get back to full operation.

Hm, that is a point.
I guess about 60% of the people I show a lamp look at the battery.

Please add me to the list for 1 unit.

Add me to the list for another one.
Total 2
I do hope this starts making progress again soon.

I’m 1038, could you put me down for another two please?

I asked people for feedback about muggle mode, but didn’t get much consensus. Perhaps it’s time to restart that discussion.

Open questions:

  • What UI style should muggle mode have?
    • On/off only, ~150 lm.
    • Low/med/high/off loop, one step per click. (~10/~80/~300 lm)
    • Low/med/high Olight Baton-style UI. (stairstep ramp)
    • Simplified smooth ramp, ~10 lm to ~300 lm.
    • No muggle mode.
  • How should the user exit muggle mode?
    • Disconnect power and wait for the driver’s residual charge to drain.
    • Special sequence of button presses. (probably just 6 clicks, to mirror the steps used to enter muggle mode)

Maybe this should be a poll?

10-300 smooth ramp or 3-4 speed with hold to cycle would be fine with me.

Maybe just limit the MAX level to certain level and leave the rest.

EDIT- Yes I vote give them everything just with a lower max.

I think I’m going for:
Full ramp range enabled
Start from minimum if off upon hold
Start from last value if off upon single click until power cut; default to 1x7135 probably?
No multiclick shortcuts except a ~6+ click sequence to exit muggle mode - not triggered accidentally
Remember muggle mode even after residual charge drains, so that when taken out of a drawer (stored without battery in) it still works just like before it was stored

I just don’t hand my powerful lights to muggles. Problem solved. Lol

Keep some cheaper, less powerful and easier to use lights handy. EE X2R, X5R, X6R, etc…
