Review - Lumintop ODF30 XHP70.2 3500lm 19600cd 280m - by Lock

Great review & pictures. Thanks

Thanks for the lengthy reviews and pics!

In my review I found that the parasitic drain was 0.05Amps. Could you check that? I just unscrewed the tailcap to meaure when turned off and measured between 0.02A and 0.05A.

Edit: I guess it's my reading... I just can't understand how to read my DMM.. It just says 0.05

ok i checked...the parasitic drain in my ODF30 is 51uA (0,051mA or 0,000051A) .

With a 26650 5200mAh battery the teorical runtime is 101960h (4248 days or 11 years) XD

Hmm. Maybe i jist didnt read it good enough. Are you sure it's not 0.05A? :)

XD...yes i'm sure...In the photo you can see the used scale in the multimeter (uA) and the measured value 51,2uA :)

Yep, seen it.. Need to double check it on mine...

Hi there, great review! I am keen on getting either the Rofis MR70 or the Lumintop ODF30. Wich one do you prefer, and why?

I am leaning towards the Rofis MR70 due to the USB port and the included battery. But it is more expensive.

I had an extremely negative experience with the Imalent DX80 so I avoid all Imalent and anything resembling Imalent. Rofis MR70 reminds me of Imalent. I would choose Lumintop ODF30!

I will ask, out of curiosity, what is wrong with the imalent? I’ve never had any lamps from this producer, that’s why I’m even more interested.

The minor thing was that the supplied charger will fail. Every one of them whether black tip or yellow tip. You will need to purchase a laptop charger from eBay or Amazon to replace it. The major thing was that my DX80, after a couple of uses, and me treating it well as a shelf queen (no abuse; not even drop or bump against any object; even the lens was smudge-free) it ceased to turn on. The battery pack was fully charged because I swapped it out with another DX80 (I used to be a big Imalent fan; even to the point of going on YouTube and liking every Imalent review video) and it was not the battery pack nor connection. It was obviously the electronics in the head. This is not anything I could do to fix it. I venture that even a seasoned modder would have a time figuring out after getting the head open due to the electronics.

Long story short: I got an RMA from Shellen at Imalent and carefully boxed it up and shipped it with a local Chinese courier (located on Valley Blvd. and Del Mar Ave. in San Gabriel Valley, California), that my wife and I have used multiple times without fail (I am Chinese myself). Imalent claims to NEVER have received my RMA package.

$300 lost. Imalent? No more Imalent for me. Anything resembling an Imalent (electronic click instead of a depressed button) is out for me too. I lost well over $300 for nothing. “Thanks” to Imalent.

After such experiences, I am not surprised. I would be very disappointed myself. On the basis of various opinions, I have removed a few companies from the shopping list. Such a forum is a treasure.

wow excellent review! must be the best one i seen in a long time here and very nice photos also wow!

Wow! A really useful & detailed review with lots of useful information & visuals. Hope you get the opportunity to review other upcoming flashlights too.

I have the Rofis MR70 since a month. Very happy with it. I use it while biking at night. The UI is great. I use the triple-click strobe occasionally for a couple of seconds too. So much brighter than a car headlight even!

The Lumintop ODF30 is similar. The cheaper cousin. It is priced well if compared to its more premium & feature rich cousin.

I note that the thermal/timed output runtimes of both are quite similar at Turbo & High.

I love this picture heavy review. Actually, flashlight review should be picture base. The picture with test images gives the clear idea about that flashlight. Lumintop has produced some quality tactical flashlights http://totalguide.org/best-tactical-flashlight. The 3500 lumens means higher brightness. I am thinking to get this one.

Very nice review Lock. :+1:

Can you explain how you measured the lumens?

I have a JoshK sphere and all my lumen measurements were about 13% less than rated.

Also, have you tried to look at the driver or switch? They seem to be glued.

Yes, I have some doubts here as well.

I recently got hold of the Rofis MR70 and the brightness factor doesn’t seem to be much different considering the near total flood the beam throws out.

The Lumintop ODF30 seems to be more brighter in the centre due to formation of a hot spot making the beam a bit throwier but sacrificing some useful floodiness… most perceptible at its high & mod nodes, rather than turbo.

Waow! Great review and great photography in the wild.
Right now i’m in the Mercantour parc on the other side of the Alps.
It must have been cold!?

I like this light a lot, although it seems to be very very floody - almost pure flood?
Could you show a white wall beamshot?

Thanks again! :+1:

PS; i found a coupon here: GearBEST's Sale . Rovyvon A5 $15.99 . Convoy S21 $15.99 (expired right now…)

Since my last post I recieved my TA Lumen tube and TA recieved some measured lights from Maukka (he has a professional integrating sphere with calibrated reference lights). So we should use a 0.68 correction factor on these tubes.

I measured my ODF30 a bit earlier using a 0.7 correction factor, but that’s still very close.

Brightness levels are roughly:
Turbo 3150
High 1500
Med 500
Low 140
Eco 5

What I’m most interested in is the turbo run time before it starts to ramp down. I got about a 1m 37s before it starts to ramp down. It’s pretty hot to hold at this point. So I’m not really sure how lock is getting two and a half minutes. Maybe yours just getting a lot hotter than mine before stepping down?

Maybe it’s battery related? I see that the black KeepPower 5200mah has quite a bit more voltage sag than the Liitokala 5000mah cyan that I’m measuring with. Maybe this increased voltage sag means it’s delivering less amperage to the emitter so it heats up a little slower?

.

I just received an ODF30. Really compact light! It’s somehow like a mini Convoy L6.
I still have to take it out for a night walk… but with summer solstice approaching night is coming quite late these days.
I wish it would be a more neutral white though.
