Texas_Ace MT09R Modding thread, 20k+ lumens, 80CRI, can start fires? Yes please.

I may send you one to install one of those for myself.

Ok, it looks like I got packages from BimmerNut318, Saypat and 808HI today.

I will open them up and see if any of them don’t need xhp70 drivers later, I am pretty sure Saypat does not. Any that don’t I will try to get finished on Monday.

The rest will have to wait until I get the next driver PCB’s, and build the drivers. It should be end of next week when I can start working on the rest of those lights.

Impressive for a single LED. Gotta get me some of ’em some day.

Indeed, I was seriously impressed the first time I saw those numbers. You just keep pumping in more power and it keeps giving more lumens lol.

Just letting everyone know that I still have about 14 of the MT09R 70.2 NW in the green and blue colors left.

The price on them is very low, also I can ship them straight to TA for you to have the new driver installed as well as emitter upgrades for any that may want emitter upgrades. They are all NW tint and even with stock emitters once the new TA driver goes in it becomes a 20k plus lumen light.

Any that do not sell by the time I get them back to my warehouse in S.C. which is still about 9 more days. I will be purchasing the drivers from TA myself and installing them. After that the price will go back to the regular retail price.

The price I have them at right now even if you have TA install the new driver for you, you will still be saving about $35.00 each for them Also all of TA's work is warranted by the factory. (only standard parts and labor. If you purchase $40.00 LED's and the develop some sort of problem I can only replace them with stock emitters, the drivers will be the same.

The best time to get them is not while I can ship much larger orders to TA instead of one here and there costing a lot extra in shipping.

Thanks guys. Just trying to keep everyone updated.

Buy the way TA I’ll be sending you that MT09R that is having driver problems, or has a dead driver or possibly the switch, who knows on Monday or Tues. and by the time it gets there my other light the Blue XHP70.2’s should be about arriving at the same time, just guessing because it should have been shipped last Tues or Wed and I could never get a straight answer.
This light needing repaired was not one of your installs so I just need to find out what’s messed up and get it fixed and attach the bill to the other light build, Thanks…

Ok, I will be watching for it and let you know what I find out.

Thanks TA mucho appreciated…

I got my mt07s today. Very happy with it… i got 5017 lumen before mod using ceiling bounce test… after mod, i got 9000 lumen otf, then stay about 8242 lumen… ( using samsung 30q)… very big improvement… i will get higher lumen if i test with sony vtc5a.

its totally worth the money.
Upgrade driver. Cool ramping mode.
High bin led.
Bypass spring.
Modded carrier.
Increased around 5000 lumen. ( from the small reflector)
My modded astrolux mf02 with the big reflector only do 6700 lumen.
Turbo mode is wow.

Thanks TA.

Glad you like the results,

Interesting that your readings on this light at so much lower then mine, I tested it several times and it always hit ~10k lumens on fresh cells and then would settle out at ~9700-9800 lumens at the 5-10 second mark.

Hope I didn’t make a mistake with the readings somehow. Always worried that I could overrate a light.

That’s right, there will be none of that Chinese lumens stuff coming out of Texas, period…

Nope, I try to round down whenever possible.

Yes. My ceiling bounce is not perfect… lux numbers are jumping up and down just by moving around… i really trust mt07s is 10k lumen. Your measurement are 99% accurate.

So if the MT03 can have the exact same mod as the MT09R, would the MT03 also be getting 22k lumen and start fire too?
I mean they both ended up with the same led upgrade and TA driver/ spring bypass etc…
And which one deal with the heat better? I would assume the MT09R? due to its big head and more fins than the MT03.
I’m just a few beam shot away from packing the light and send it over to TX… lol

The MT09R has more mass than the MT03, so it will handle heat better.

Yes, the MT03’s are getting about the same results as the MT09R. They have all been over 20k so far which is my goal, anything else is a bonus.

I am sure it would have no problems starting a fire with ~250W of power.

While the MT09R does have more mass a lot of it is in the reflector and other non-heat shedding areas.

From my testing the MT03 does seem to have a marginal advantage in heat handling due to all the fins. The fins really do play a surprisingly big role in heat handling.

Stopping adding bonuses into it  :person_facepalming: …… Alright I got my box ready lol. Waiting for some MT03 shots and it’s going to Texas lol

I received my 5 modded lights from TA today. MT09R 35HI, MT09R 70.2 4000k 80CRI, and 3x MT03 4000k 80CRI. I measured my 70.2 4000k with no DC-Fix for before after comparison:
MT09R 70.2 4000k 80CRI stock: 13,076 lumens
MT09R 70.2 5000k 70CRI stock: 17,301 lumens
MT09R 70.2 4000k 80CRI TA driver and M4 emitters: 21,846 lumens
These values are instantaneous startup lumens

TA measured 22k for my 4000k 80CRI peaking at 23k so my measurements are a bit lower. However, mine is based on ceiling bounce method, which is no where near as accurate as TA’s. This shows the stock NW really is 17k-18k stock.

Also I love the tint on all of them. The 4000k 80CRI beats all of my 4000k 219c flashlights including the Reylight TiLan v3, Reylight Pineapple, Manker MK34, Jaxman E2L, Jaxman E3, which are already not bad. The 80CRI 4000k XHP70.2 is much closer to the BBL line whereas the 219c 4000k is farther above so it is more yellow/green. The 80CRI resembles the 219b 4000k much more than the 219c.

I really like the wide flood beam pattern of the MT03 but the MT09R with DC-Fix still looks the best (buttery smooth wall of light). I was thinking of putting DC-Fix on the MT03 but I think it will be overly floody, which means alot of light will be wasted going into the sky and outside of your peripheral vision.

I haven’t tested the MT09R 35HI yet, since it is not dark outside and throwers need to be tested outdoors.

Overall, I am extremely happy with TA’s services!!

TA, May I ask which XHP70.2 4000k 80CRI you use? XHP70B-01-0000-0D0HM440H or XHP70B-01-0000-0D0HM440G??
