Bushnell Pro Series

Hey guys, I made an impulse buy at Wally’s last night. I never owned any CR123A flashlights. Got the 2 pack Pro Series 350/100 lumens set. Any input on quality? I have yet to open it. Package looks nice.

On similar note, I also bought the Bushnell Pro Series 750 rechargeable flashlight. Again have not opened it yet.

A pre-unboxing thread!

I’ve read, somewhere, that some folks have issues with the mechanical lock out on the tail malfunctioning and the light not turning on at all. It may have been in some of the reviews. My two seem ok, so far, but they sit idle and never get any use. I guess the fix, from what i remember, was to disassemble and disable the lockout completely.

That said, i grabbed the 650 and the 350 on ebay, months before my flashaholicism began. I keep them in each of our cars’ glove boxes. Since then, I’ve put together a bunch of better lights in s2+, s6, c8, etc hosts, and I bought an emisar d4. They are all a bit brighter and better all-around than the bushnells.

I can say the grip texture is way too rough for an edc, for me. Build quality isn’t terrible, but i did not test resistance to water or anything other than feel in my hand and beam on a wall for a few seconds.

Best part about cr123 lights is that you don’t need to charge them, and the batteries have a super long shelf life, as long as parasitic drain isn’t an issue in the light. Since the mechanical lock out is (i believe) completely severing the electrical connection at the tail, they should last a long time, unused and locked out. Good for storage, IMHO.

I have not used the ones I have so I do not know the quality yet. I “try ” to rotate my flashlight use for my EDC purposes. But have not had chance to use them all. My EDC are usually lights that are defensive tools.

Meaning Batlights, Striking Baton type of lights AKA Maglite, Husky, Stansport, etc…

Back to subject. The grip texture is what caught my eye. Heavy duty construction for defensive striking tool if needed. The ones I own are the Pro Series 650 lumen, 50 lumen, and 750 lumen Ion rechargeable. I have yet to open the 750 version as I have the others to play with.

I might pick up a few more if prices are right. Just love the design.

Update here.

1. light a yellow tint?

2. more flood than throw

3. anodizing very poor. easily scratched sliding in and out of pocket.

I have three Bausch & Lomb/Bushnell rifle scopes—some of their better offerings, but I don’t think that I’d buy a Bushnell flashlight unless I needed it right then and there and had no other options.

Good luck though!

Chris

I really like the look of those lights, too. So, I bought one AAA model. After the clip snagging or tearing clothing and the low driver output per the LED, I gave it away. It helped with avoiding impulse purchasing! Lol

a month or so ago they had the single cr123 model on clearance for $5 at wm, which included a battery. It’s a pretty good deal for $5, the knurling is highly aggressive like a petrified porcupine, but not as pointy, has some decent output and a coolish white beam, throws ok for it’s size. what I don’t like is you can only change the modes while the light is off, and clip cant be rotated to align with flat section of body. I wouldn’t want one at full price, but $5 is a great deal.

You are lucky man. Nothing at my Wally’s ever go that cheap.

On related note. I am considering the 1500 lumen version rechargeable. But at $58 plus tax I might to reconsider. Use the money and move up to higher level flashlight.

Wally’s World - Taking the cheap out of “cheap junk!” :open_mouth:

They used to sell quality items for less. I can remember when their store brand was called Sam’s American Choice. Everything that carried that name was American made and at least reasonable quality for a nice low store-brand price. Now they do the opposite. They sell cheaply made items, mostly from China, for not even the lowest price.

Now, I want to clarify that I don’t mind Chinese-made items. I buy Chinese-made flashlights, after-all. But, I want the stuff that I buy to be made reasonably well, so I can enjoy it for a while. We demand that from our vendors here. Wally’s Mart doesn’t. [/rant]

I got one of those Bushnell TRKR 150 I think it is. Maybe 125, not sure. Single AA light with momentary tail cap clicky. Really woke up with a 14500 in it. Kept it in the car for a year or so. Then got on a S2+ buying frenzy so it lost it’s place in the glove box. Now it’s in a shed I have out back that doesn’t have electricity. Works well. Have to make sure the tail cap threads are lubed though. They came bone dry and not that dependable looking. Looks like they would eat themselves pretty quick without lube. I wouldn’t buy another but it has served it purpose without fail.

58 dollar will by you the haikelite mt07s buffalo 5000 lumen 800 900 meters of throw. And it’s a 4s driver so the voltage stays high enough to deliver the full 5000 lumens until batteries are discharged and thermal regulation can be disabled and it comes back on when new batteries are inserted so if someone borrowed a light or a kid you could just unscrew break the connection and thermal regulation is back. I know what light your talking about its at my Walmart. Over priced in my opinion unless you just really want it. Then it’s worth the price

yeah look how pokey this thing is, I can actually file my nails on the nurling, and why is their a tailcap strike bezel? its ridiculously sharp

That one looks like the 225 lumen version. CR123A battery. I actually passed on that one because LED was off center. Here’s the ones I have

650, 400 lumens using CR123A x 2 battery

760 recharge lithium recharge version

yeah its 225 lumens, checked a few more walmarts but none seem to have it, would scoop up another for $5 but its probably discontinued, centering ok on this one. the design is a head scratcher tho, in the pic you can see the clip misses the body flat by a couple of mm’s, if you try to turn the clip you cant get tailcap back on, not that you would ever put this pocket destroyer in your jeans tho.

.
I visit to a lot of different Walmart stores in my travels for work, in one store recently they had the mother-load of Bushnell’s including the 1500lm

.
I ended up returning my 350lm because it wasn’t mod-friendly at all, but I really liked the mechanical lockout for the tail switch, something like that would be great for a side switch only light.

I like aggressive knurling but I have to agree on these being overkill, although great grip when wearing gloves.

Wow surprised your store still has the 325 lumen version? I would not even touch the TKDR 1250 or 750 at all. Use interface is bad. I returned the 1250 one back due this.

Yeah man. I passed on 225 lumen because off center. Price was $21 discounted.

Hey guys, update link to my experiences with Bushnell.
