WTB - Zebralight SC62w--- Found one, no longer looking

Why not just buy a new SC64w?

The 63w and 64w are both XHP35’s. The 62w has the old XM-L2, and I already have the SC600Fd and the SC600w HI

I have an SC62w and an SC63w. I’ve skipped the ’64w (so far) but did buy the new SC5c mk2, so I’ve got experience with the new UI. Bottom line, for me at least, the SC62w is still one of the best “edc” light Zebra ever made. The tint is great, and I like the beam shape better than the slightly more broad XHP-based lights. I can’t even see the difference in output, a couple hundred lumens is practically unnoticeable when you’re already up this bright. I do notice the heat though, and the much faster step-down. I haven’t tested it, but I’d wager my SC62w is brighter than my SC63w after only a minute or two of being turned on, just due to the required thermal throttling of the ’63w. And the ’62w isn’t as picky about cell sizes either.

That said, the new more-programmable UI is very compelling so the ’64w does call to me sometimes. But what I really want is the new UI in my old XM-L2 based SC62w, and that’s not gonna happen

I may not be helping the OP shake loose a ’62w. Sorry! I really do hope you find one though.

I’ve got a few ZL’s with an XM-L2, and my SC600w MkIV HI blows them away with its tint. Granted, the XHP35 HI has much less tint shift than domed emitters, so I’m not sure if the SC64w with a regular XHP35 is good. But overall, I haven’t been that impressed by the regular domed XM-L2’s.

Bump, still looking

Robert… I am going to keep it. I am not crazy about the reviewers comments regarding tint and in my work with communication wiring and fiber cables the tint is what really drives me with this light.

Will probably just wear her out before I retire in a couple of years. The SC600w IV HI is the only one that right now holds interest for me. I have built quite a few lights around that LED and I think it might be a good one. The 62 is a jeans pocket killer, one of the only dislikes I have for it.

No problem Matt, thanks anyway. I may have found a brand new SC62w. Will know for sure in the next day. I have the SC600w III HI, and can tell you straight out, it’s a fantastic light. If you’re unsure about the IV, the III has a discount going on them right now. The SC600Fd Plus III is also excellent with fairly high cri.

Robert, I generally dislike lights with pocket clips that clip on… they tend to come off under strain and the the clip or the light is lost. How do you find the Zebralight clips to be?

The SC600w MkIV HI is a fantastic light. The tint is really nice, and the beam is very clean. It’s almost like a Nichia 219, but without such a high CRI. Great light for outdoors. Not as great for EDC, due to the extra throw.

I dislike clips also. I don’t use them on any light. If it can’t go in my pants or jacket pocket, then it goes in a holster of some sort. On the SC600’s I just tied lanyards on them.

The Zebras with pocket clips that are snap-on, are really quite tight. I don’t know how they’d come off accidentally.

I don’t like the lanyard ring, so I removed it. If I need a lanyard, I clip it to the base of the pocket clip. I normally don’t use the pocket clip unless I plan to not use the light for awhile, but it’s definitely useful. My only wish is that they’d go back to the design where it would rest on a smooth part of the tube, for less pocket-shredding.

:open_mouth: the thought of ano chips ……………………………… :stuck_out_tongue:

Looks cool, but i could not cope with anything that could chip the ano…………………yes my OCD is that bad

Glad you have found an sc62w Robert, i have also been looking for one for a while. So far the sc62d is my zebra champion=perfect and the 320lm is ample for 95% of my uses . But the 1000lm and nice neutral beam(it is a nice beam!) is super tempting. The sc62w could be the zebra grail…………….

Look forward to your impressions :sunglasses:

Thanks, but I won’t officially have it until it’s in my hands…! So for now, still looking for one.
The bead is made out of soft brass and has no sharp edges. The ano is harder and brass doesn’t chip it. But yeah, I would never put a titanium or steel bead on one.

ebay?

Haha, saw that. He wants $199 for a $79 flashlight. And ships from Ukraine

Yes seen that myself, crazy! Its been there for a month or so……………………very surprising ha.

From flashaholics in the UK, they have the sc62d still available……………….can highly recommend that. Also Kim(shrike) on ebay has an sc62d, works out around $90 all in though from Korea.

I had a chance a few months back, sc62w but it was scruffy and wanted £45. Guess it would have been fine for a work beater light but i have enough of those already.

Does it have to be warm white?
I have a regular sc62 that I will be willing to part with. Pm if interested

The sc62 surprised me , these days i dont actually go for cooler beams but the 6300k is clean/pure white. Its one of my fav CW lights…………………

The SC62 is still available on ZL’s website for $59

SC62d is a nice one also.
