*BLF LT1 Lantern Project) (updated Nov,17,2020)

Interesting idea to add a removable base. The V1 prototype has some scratches & nicks on the bottom form ground & rocks.

I was thinking one decent drop and the q8 tailcap might not screw on all that well. Even just a protective cup (like plastidip) might be worthwhile.

Screwing it to something like this might be really beneficial too:

It’s just that you’d need a few threads to bite into it, from the bottom.

Also, not sure what this little tripod would do with the weight of 4 18650s and the light on it.

That link don’t work for some reason.

It worked earlier strangely.

They must be in maintenance, like earlier BLF was.

Just checked their site and it’s down for the count.

link and pic are dead

sorry

One of the plans is to add a 1/4”–20 threaded tripod mount hole in the bottom of the lantern for those reasons, and to give it the option of mounting it on a tripod to illuminate a larger area when needed.

I want one, thanks

That’s awesome. Thanks. I tried searching this mega thread to see if I was being redundant. Sorry about that.

Can you add me for another lantern? Thank you.

Put me down for 3 more please.

Will the lantern require button top cells? I just recently realized the BLF Q8 does, and since this lantern is using may identical parts, I am suspecting it will also?

Thank you!! This just keeps getting more impressive…… :+1:

DBSAR… I don’t know how important it is, but my total should be ‘5’.
Thank you……

Most likely as the four cells are in parallel and button tops are required to contact the positive driver ring when threading the battery tube on the head.

sorry i fixed that  its easier i put the total number after the last list request then it is to move every one else down. Either way Thorfire has expressed lots of interest in this project as it approaches 1000 lanterns interested.

Thank you DBSAR!!! I am looking forward to this……

Please add me for one more (total of 4)

Thanks

I am adding the base tripod threaded mod tomorrow to the prototype, and will do some beam-pattern ( beam shot) comparisons between the new V2 versus the V1 and some other modified lanterns i have. So far the V2 is very impressive with the new head design, with a smoother, wider field of illumination than any other lantern i tested or have, with the least lantern glare effect of them all. I can;t wait to field-test this (with photos) on our first 3-day camping trip in 2 weeks. I hope to get the USB TP4056 based charging circuit added to if i can in time, to test its off-grid sustainability using a 10-Watt Eceen folding solar charger.

Wow!!! Like I mentioned above… it just keeps getting better & better. :+1:

Thanks for the info……
