18650 shipping to Canada

Does anyone know how to get 18650 batteries shipped to Canada… Gearbest and banggood list Canada as available to ship to… But anytime I add batteries to a cart then go to check out I get a shipping error… Thanks for the help

I was told these guys ship to Canada and talked to some who buy from them. I have been buying from vape shops so far, found Samsung 18650 30q for $11 each. If I get more I’m using that site though.

I looked at your Liion link. I selected 4 x LG HG2 18650 batteries and selected my postal code on Ontario. Shipping estimate was $27.03USD so cost would be $48.16USD or about $60CAD. Shipping kills the deal as it is about the same price if you just bought from Vape shops in Canada (or at least in Toronto).

I have used Liion before and even with the shipping and exchange rates (to Canada), it was still cheaper to buy 30Q button tops from them. I haven’t been able to find 30Q button tops anywhere in Canada. Unless you buy locally from a vape shop, Canada Post will charge you almost 20.00 to ship anywhere in Canada. I bought some Efest IMR 26650 4200mAh 50A Li-Mn Flat Top Batteries locally last week and they were 17.50 each. I will buy from Liion again in the future

Actually, I think it is hard to find button tops (at least from my quick search), so you may be right and it is better to get the button tops from Liion.

Ouch I didn’t realize shipping was so much. You can modify flat top to work easily enough with either a small magnet or blob of solder, the highest capacity ones are usually flat top it seems. I found some Samsung 30Q on sale at local vape shop for $11 which I think is decent. I’ve also been using cells from a used laptop battery pack and except for one they work great so far… These are all the cells I pulled from laptop battery pack that keep full voltage and runtime is good.

Ships to canada, just received order yesterday containing a bunch of 18650’s. Great service and great people to deal with. And cheap prices on 18650’s too.

Price gets nice once you grab 2+ pieces. The 2 piece pack deals for Lii-50A and 26650-50A cells are also quite good. :-)

What about Amazon.ca, free shipping for prime members, and they do have them, prices seem ok to me.

A button top on a 18650 literally is an aftermarket botch usually required when cells are going to be used outside of the original manufacturer's requirements/recommendations, or just because whoever designed the target device is masking some design flaw or just wants to @#$% with its customers. I see little to no point in buying button tops by default, and since I am able to easily button top cells with low temperature solder if needed… even less.

The above AliExpress shop I referred has substantially better pricing than any of the other aforementioned retailers. I obviously refuse to feed useless middlemen/middlewomen, such money is better spent in higher duties. But of course everyone is master of his/her own decisions.

When I get my order, I’ll test them for capacity and high-current drain, and let you know. If they turn out to be good, I’ll order more. Otherwise, certainly not, and I guess I’ll have to swallow the high shipping costs from the US.

Okay, it’s been awhile, but I finally got the cells I ordered from the Sunway Store on Aliexpress, here:

I ordered Sony VTC6 cells, and I believe they are legit. From what I can tell by looking at them, and comparing them to descriptions here and elsewhere, they seem to be genuine cells.

The code indicates they were manufactured in August 2017. So, they’re not old stock, either.

The downside is very slow shipping time, via Turkey Post. Almost 2.5 months. But, it was free shipping, so you get what you pay for I guess.

The cells came with a voltage of 3.48v. This seems to be normal for other recent orders of mine. They used to ship with higher voltage, but I think new rules means they charge them less now.

They were able to operate my Zebralight SC600w IV HI at full output (it has a boost driver), even at a low charge level. So they appear to be high drain.

Capacity is about 2925mAh to 2.93v. So, proper capacity, too.

I’m currently making sure they hold a full charge for a few days, before I decide they are safe to use. So far, they’re holding well.

They were packaged lightly (paper boxes inside a bubble envelope), but it seemed to be sufficient. I’ve certainly seen worse.

Overall, I’m pleased with the purchase. I would order more, but I recently ordered a bunch from the US, thinking this order may have gone missing. Guess I should have waited just a bit longer.

I just had success ordering from MABDElectronics.
Pretty much the best pricing I could find on Samsung 30Qs and Sony VTC6s. I got 12 cells total.
Shipping was USPS from California.
Didn’t get charged any duty. I very happy with the purchase.

Cells usually come from factories with voltages well below 4V for a reason. I wouldn't charge a battery at maximum voltage to then let it rest there unused, this is “harmful”. For cells I do use but for which I do not know when will I be using them I usually settle on leaving them at ≈3.95V, this allows me to still get ≈70% of their charge with minimal to no cell stress.

For my occasional-use cells, I prefer 4.05v - 4.10v. That’s about 85% - 90% charge. It’s still a lot easier on the cells than 4.20v, and I can use them in lights with a FET (direct) driver and still get high output. 3.95v is starting to get low for direct-driven lights, even though there’s still plenty of capacity. I find direct-driven lights suck in output when the battery gets down to about 3.75v, so you really only have the top 50% of capacity to play with.

BTW, my last bunch of cells I bought from Illum. Shipping was $15, but you can buy any number of cells for that, so it wasn’t too bad for 8 cells. Price per cell was comparable to China prices, so the extra cost is really just shipping. They did come better packaged than China cells, which is nice.
