My latest solution for locating a side switch in the dark

Yeah that’s a great idea, I did worry about it slipping but so far so good - no issues, the stuff has got a pretty darn sticky adhesive.

The more I play with these lights tonight the more I like it. It’s truly a game changer for me!

It’s really not at all, you maybe need to try it yourself before passing judgment.

Of course different people, different skin. My hands/fingertips are kind of rough, so no issue at all here. Everything is a trade off, it’s what’s most important to you. For me fumbling for these side switches in the dark is not only “uncomfortable” it’s downright frustrating!

Those who love “aggressive knurling” would be in Hawg Heaven with that stuff…

For the TC20 I ended up making a “donut” ring using the paper punch and a leather punch for the smaller hole.

How well do you think it will stick with pocket carry? Looks easy to replace. Just wondering.

Have magnets glued to my pocket clip then covered with shrink tubing. The tubing last about 2 months.

I think its worth it but others might not.

I haven’t tried it yet but my guess is that it would stick pretty well (depending on the type/brand of tape of course). I have a strip running down the front strap of pistols with some tucked into the grips and others not. I haven’t noticed any of them lifting off with some of the pistols having 10k plus rounds through them. There’s more surface area on the front strap tape but there’s also a lot more force being applied to the guns than pressing or carrying a flashlight.

Hey chadvone, that’s a good question and one I’ve thought about as well. I haven’t had these on long enough for any real life pocket testing, I’m currently recovering from a surgery and I’m not wearing regular pants or jeans yet, and probably won’t be for another week or two.

But like SIGshooter said, this stuff stays pretty solid. I notice it’s slightly moveable when first applied but it seems to “set” once it’s been on for a while. From what I’m seeing it will survive for basic EDC, but between different lights / pockets YMMV

Talon Grip tape. Anyone else know of another brand? Recommended or not.

Thinking maybe something thin would be easier to work with. IDK

My point was that the texture was not going to “hurt” or “annoy” you like DavidEF suggested.
Clearly you misunderstood my post.

I’ve been using Duck Outboard Tread tape and at least for hand guns has been working just fine for me.

I’ll look into that. Thank You

Talon comes in either rubber or granulate textures and the rubber appears to be a less aggressive texture, so you don’t want that, not sure exactly how aggressive their granulate version is but Talon is pretty expensive, I really don’t think there is an actual tape by Talon (as in roll of tape), only 5x7 material sheets and grip wraps for specific pistols. As far as being thinner to work with I had no problem with thickness for what I did, but maybe if you’re talking about covering a whole body or tube.

Although it doesn’t actually show “mineral based” in the description, the Duck Outboard Tread tape SIGshooter linked looks like the right stuff. (sandpaper grit texture)

Yes I did. :person_facepalming: I was wondering why you quoted David, now it makes sense. Sorry for misunderstanding what you meant, thanks for explaining!

No prob :+1:

I new it!!!

Kidding. I have taken things way wrong before myself. I sorta give people that post a lot a personality, sometimes based on there aviator. I know its wrong.

The way Robert used to chew that gum drove me crazy. lol not really

Back on topic.

Can this gripe tape be found at walmart ? Have a small one in out town. Would a hardware store usually carry this ?

If you shop at Wal-Mart, you will surely find a gripe, but I don’t know if it will be from the tape… :stuck_out_tongue:

A hardware store or a home improvement store should have the tape. (and Walmart might too, but probably not)

I try not to , but man they got everything. Giggling. YES I see my typo.

EDIT== DavidEF I now think of you as someone funny.

 :+1:

chadvone, if you have a Lowes store nearby look at the tapes I show in post #18 above, the first one is the tape I’m using, but that large roll is too expensive just for this, the second one is a reasonable price but I personally haven’t compared them. If possible you could stop by a Lowes and compare them.

Click on my photos for the links, you can check online if your local store has them in stock.

I will do this too and also check at Walmart, but because of a recent surgery it will be about another week until I can drive again.

On another note I’ve tried to push/rub the pads to simulate pocket use and the pads are not coming off or moving, so I feel these will stay in place under pocket clip use.

But proper application is important, I pre-cleaned the surface with 91% rubbing alcohol and allowed to thoroughly dry before applying the pads, and I was also very careful not to touch the adhesive side with my fingers when removing the backing and applying the pads. I also made sure to press the pads on tightly.
