I have a 'BRILLIANT' idea for a new switch......

Instead of putting the switch on the tail where it can be fumbly hard to press, or putting the switch on the side where it can be just plain hard to find at all, I propose ( I may seek a patent), to put the switch SMACK DAB IN THE MIDDLE OF THE LENS!!!

That’s right you’ll always be able to locate the switch because it’ll be ILLUMINATED LIKE A SUMBITCH!!!

So if right now you can’t seem to find your ass with two hands and a searchlight my brilliant idea will solve all your fumble around looking for that switch forever!

Whaddya guys think? Should I patent this?? Or should I send this over to CPF and let them run with it?

:student:

If its in the middle of the lens and would be illuminated anyway, why would you need to press it?

Instead patent an always on flashlight.

Ya know watt!!!

This actually may BE a BRILLIANT idear.

What IF when you press down on the lens it activates the switch? Press again it goes off.
Basically a reverse tail switch clickie.

Ok, so the lens gets a little smudged up but hey you’ll always be able to find the switch becuz by gum the lens is lit or if not we all know where the lens is right?

Wholly crap! Watch, someone will design a sliding lens/reflector/pill/head assembly or sum thin along that line. I’m prolly out $$$$$ already.

Tesla move over btw.

I never understood the whole hard to find the switch thing myself. Every flashlight I get, I close my eyes until the switch location and feeling become completely obvious to me. It's just a flashlight switch, it can't be that hard

“……it can’t be that hard”

Ya know I had a girl in high school tell me that once. She was fumbling around in the dark too. Amazing coincidence.

High school, the good old days!

CRX just proved I’m not a whack job! Of course he’s also smarter than me becuz obviously that thing works just on touch. No slide switch there!

:student:

Now that’s an Idea— A Touch Flashlight—- might not be pocket-able though—— :person_facepalming:

Touching lens with fingers is not good idea. you need cleaning glass anytime when you want light.

Would be funny to watch someone doing this with a x000 lumens light running for a while on turbo, e .g. something like a D4 …

Well in that case you would definitely prefer a single mode!

Speaking of high power torches that can burn a hole in your pockets, what prevents using a dual-pane some kind of gas-filled thermal barriered lens that prevents combustible temps from being reached in the first place?

Granted the head itself would likely get uber warm but I doubt it would reach combustion stage. But maybe it would IDK.

Ok I understand then enhanced ‘venting’ would prolly be required to siphon off all that reflected heat out of the head somehow but considering the fire danger with these magnum torches is it unreasonable?

We already have stove oven glass that does it so why not flashlights?

:student:

PS……With lithium batts commonly in series (especially with non-protecteds) IMO enhanced venting should already be a defacto manufacturer safety build in by now anyway at least in high-end torches.

Hmmm, “notawhackjob”, eh?

I see…

So, she found your flashlight?

Second degree burns are hilarious!

I wished DX80 has the switch like this Brilliant idea beside a NW version of it. Quite often I read people complaining about difficult to feel the switch on DX80.

“So, she found your flashlight?”

She did and then some!!!

She thought my pair of batteries though were showing some signs of excessive charging degradation. However, she did appreciate that they came protected.

Just remember this guys……the seemingly wackiest ideas in the past many times eventually became reality in the future. :student:
