Group Buy: Wuben TO10R and TO46R (real 90+CRI triple XP-G3) - CLOSED!!

Interested in group buy, PM sent

PM replied.

Iā€™m assuming no LVP in the T046R, hence the included protected Wuben cell??

Anyone want to suggest an alternate cell that they know will fit? Is the Wuben cell a known and trusted rewrap?

Iā€™ve tried out the Wuben LT35 and Wuben L50 flashlights which include a Wuben ABE2600 protected 2600mAh 18650 in the flashlight package.
My guess is the TO46R will also come with the same Wuben ABE2600 18650 (Iā€™m not sure about the TO10R, what kind of battery will be included though).

From my previous tests of the Wuben ABE2600 (using MC3000, discharge @ 0.50A to 2.50v cut-off, I got 2600+ to 2700+ mAh capacity, so it seems to be pretty accurate). The protection circuit of the Wuben ABE2600 trips at around 6A (similar to the Liitokala protected NCR18650B that I also have).

(Now itā€™s unlike the Sofirn 18650 ā€” Iā€™ve also bought Sofirn flashlights with packaged 18650 from the AE store, there are 2 types of Sofirn 18650s bundled with their flashlights, I canā€™t seem to determine when theyā€™ll send one or the other ā€” Iā€™ve gotten Sofirn 18650 thatā€™s labeled ā€œ2800mAhā€ and is a protected 18650, and Iā€™ve also gotten Sofirn 18650 thatā€™s labeled ā€œ3000mAhā€ and is an unprotected 18650. (The Sofirn protected ā€œ2800mAhā€ 18650 also trips at around 6A current)

Doing capacity tests of those Sofirn ā€œ2800mAhā€ protected and ā€œ3000mAhā€ unprotected 18650 batteries, using the same procedure above, MC3000 discharge @ 0.50A to 2.50v cut-off; Iā€™m only getting 2600+ to 2700+ mAh capacity ā€” practically similar capacity as the Wuben ā€œ2600mAhā€ 18650s, which are at least labeled properly and correctly).

Thereā€™s LVP at 2.4V.

Hoping these start shipping tomorrow

Iā€™m pretty sure weā€™re still waiting to get a sample tested?

.

Last update:

Yes, I would definitely like the lights to be tested prior to being sent. I am concerned about the lack of updates regarding the testing especially since the expected May 21st ship date has arrived.

Right!

I guess itā€™s time for a short status updateā€¦

Samples:
First lights are coming out of the factory and the samples will be shipped to me tomorrow morning. They should arrive here at the beginning of next week. Hope maukka is available to test them very soon after that.

I asked Wuben not to ship any lights before maukka verifies the samples => Current estimate for the shipping date is late next week.

Payments:
Wuben told me they have received roughly half of the payments. If you havenā€™t paid the lights you reserved, please do so before next Monday!

Remaining lights:
There are still some lights left: Anyone can still join the GB and existing participants can reserve more lights. ā€œ1st come, 1st served.ā€ => PM me to make the reservation.

Thanks for the update =the= and weā€™ll be looking for those tests
I hope the rest of the process is going well :innocent:

No travel plans next week.

Just curious (this may have been brought up before) Since the TO10R tube will fit the TO46R head can Wuben sell some TO10R tubes as an add on accessory?

In order to make a good long/shorty ā€œconvertibleā€ light weā€™d have to buy both lights and then have a pretty much worthless TO10R head. Buying both would be cost prohibitive anyways.

Since they were nice enough to sell the MCPCB w/LEDs as accessory, have they been asked about the shorty tubes?

I understand they made the TO10R driver different to suit 16340, but we can bore the shorty tube for 18350 and use Aspire/Vapecell, probably too much to ask but even better if Wuben would bore them and do a special run of the bored tubes as an add on accessory, otherwise at least offer the stock TO10R tubes separate and we can bore them ourselves.

is this still going? would be interested in a T046R

Yesā€¦

Quote yesterday by the organizer (Post #340, 4 posts above yours)ā€¦

Unfortunately, this is not possible. I tried, but Wuben wonā€™t agree on selling ā€œincompatible/unsafeā€ tubes.

46r charge and discharge current are a bit too much for a non-IMR 16340, causing a risk -> they also glue the head of 46r to prevent body swap.

If we buy both lights, crack open the glued head and bore the tube for 18350, Wuben wonā€™t be held accountable if anything bad happensā€¦

OK thanks for the answer.

So, when can we expect to see our wooobins

From this update from 2 days ago: ā€œCurrent estimate for the shipping date is late next weekā€

Okay so I received my stock TO46R today. I ordered this before I came across this group buy. Anyway, first impressions! Really like this light despite the cool white in its stock form. About the same form factor as a BLF A6 but only a bit wider around the head due to heat sinking. The quality is top notch and the UI isnā€™t too bad either. Low mode of 7 lumens is a bit too high but I can live with it. I would recommend using a protected cell as I tested it with both types and it seems the unprotected cell doesnā€™t get compressed as hard and might increase resistance or disconnect when accidentally dropped. Itā€™s obviously designed to be used with a protected cell because it comes with one and a protected cell sits flush with the end of the barrel.

Itā€™s a great light and I highly recommend everyone to be patient. A high CRI NW version of this light will definitely be worth the wait.

Thanks KevinZA1988 for your feedback, good to hear you like it.
