BLF Q8 Driver

Now you can buy the BLF Q8 driver from the Sofirn Official Store on AliExpress :

Yeah, if I want to buy a replacement Q8 driver, I would just buy Lexel’s FET+7135+15x7135 driver.

It has NarsilM 1.2, along with constant current operation up to 6A. And you get to support them.

Win-Win.

A good driver to blow up your cheap SRK clones

But it is nice to see this driver as a separate part although I can not think of a use for it yet.

Yeah, I don’t really know.

If there was a BLF Q8 host however, that would be just amazing.

How did it end up at sofirn???

Sofirn and Thorfire share parts suppliers. They must have gotten the drivers from the same place as Tgorfire.

Is there anywhere you can buy the stock MCPCB?

Not really.

However, there is the new Q8 MCPCB which support XM L2 sized LEDs, meaning you can easily make your own LED array, although you need to cut ye reflector to size, and get some washers.

My Q8 replacement driver came in and it has one thing different than the stock one. What is the purpose of this? It sits on top of one of the caps.

Oooh another cap.

It’s probably there for additional bump protection.

Ah ok. Wonder if new production Q8’s come with it now too.

I was hoping to put this driver in my SRK 10T6 clone but after reading your post I’m having second thoughts? Is this driver safe to use in a clone?

Why wouldn't it be safe? Who's post? It's a good deal on a good driver, wayyyy better than stock SRK clone drivers - I've seen/worked on a few.

Hmmm, with a Q8 reflector, mcpcb, and now driver, anyone know if the combo would fit into a Mag head?

There is an SRK driver plus spring PCBs and switch on AliExpress. It’s described as a K10 version.

Thanks. I ordered the driver Q8 for my 10 led SRK clone. The Q8 driver arrived today, excellent quality - impressed with the battery ring. I checked it for size and it does fit. I think the leds are LatticeBright XK 7 Watt. I think they would probably take the drive current. Just
need to work out how to get the driver out.

Latticebrights on a cheap alum MCPCB with a Q8 driver? Hhmmm, you might get a few hot secs out of it - careful with the LED's desoldering themselves - if not a good heat path, all the heat stays at the LED's and that's not good. Of course I'd try it

If it hasn’t been tried yet, somebody should ask VOB to try it and see if it works.

Mmmm, he might’ve already tried it by now.

I have a rather pristine 2D Mag (that I can’t quite find right now :confounded: ) going unused for years, that I could measure the innards and see if the Q8 innards would fit, but…

Problem is, okay, so I got a nice chunk o’ reflector and the LED board… now what goes under it? I’ve got zero machining/metalworking setup here, so would have to farm out something, or else do it “manually” (ugh).

Eh, it’s a nice idea. Imagine if I wouldn’t push it too hard it could still beat the Magbulb output by at least an order of mag-nitude (haha).

Where does one go to purchase drivers from Lexel?
