LED Worklight

I purchased few LED worklights from Costco, Home Depot etc. to replace my old Craftsman 150Wx2 Halogen Worklight but haven’t found one that works as well. With Craftsman, I can light up my entire backyard but not with LED worklights.

Just like BLF A6, is this area lacking innovation before community got involved or am I am missing some good products?
Thx

Mine had 4 emitters. Now it seems all the 400W lights have 8 emitters, so hopefully those draw much closer to 400W than mine did. Reviews for this one says it draws 300 watts, so it looks like they doubled the drivers and emitters while keeping the same 400W rating. This would blow away your Craftsman lights in terms of sheer lumens, but I think you’ll also find it to be much more floody.

How many lumens are you looking for, and does it need to be portable?

This thread is pretty good…

COB LED flashlights? discuss, point, recommend, criticize ….

EDIT… guess I should have read more closely…
Well, I do not consider a light to light up the back yard a worklight.
There are many LED Outdoor Flood lights that can be mounted to the pedestal lights to replace the Halogen bulb fixtures.

Oops, my bad.
Looks like incorrectly used the term work light.

And, the work light is actually 1,000 watt like the one below:

So, I guess I really need 16k lumens or close to it

No worries, I had just posted a neat little handheld COB work light I received today so my mind was fixed to that type.

But the LED Flood lights I am referring to are direct replacements to that style. They are abundant. 30-50W will be more than enough.

The drivers and LED can be bought separate to repair or change colors.

and good luck getting actual lumen ratings…
The 30W I pictured above is $10 on Amazon Prime, but only one left.

Generic 30W LED white Flood Light

These type are also available in Warm White.

There are COB that have the needed driver on the same MCPCB, those usually get the right rating and are way more compact compered to ones with external driver

how does your work light look like? what is the wattage?

The link OP posted is not accessible so I just copied the image and it looks like this:

That one is most likely 2x500w with 20k lumen total output. The LED equivalent should be 100w on each of the floodlight. The “100w” floodlight on the eBay is pretty common, but those LED floodlights are most likely under-drived (i.e. the LED itself is 100w, but the installed driver is only driving 20-50w) so you might have to mod the driver. Other option would be buying driver, LED, and empty floodlight shell (make sure that it’s really intended for 100w because the casing for 100w will have more heatsink fins than the 20w ones, and using the latter will risk burning your LED out) separately, if you can afford to assemble it yourself.

PS: bigcliveddotcom has provided a nice videos about how the power ratings of many LED floodlights are overrated, and also how you can mod/assemble one for yourself.

I face the similar issue of OP, but my problem is the LED is too bright after the replacement. I purchased 200W LED to retrofit the 500W halogen. I was totally wrong. According to your suggestion, if my halogen is 500 watt, I will need around 50W LED?
