Pretty sure the driver is made up consisting of 8x380mA 7135 chips, making it effectively a QLite (3.04A) So actual output depends greatly on the emitter choice you make when you order the light. A 1A tint will be higher than a 4C, for example. Just how it is. Relatively simple to stack a few chips for more power.
Where are you referring to that it says this? I haven’t seen that info anywhere. As far as I know this is still the 2.8A driver and would not be putting out 1100 lumens. Am I missing something? I can see BG listing 1100 lumens but I don’t see anything like this in the Convoy store.

Doh! Sorry. Okay, I take it back. I have no idea why BG is claiming 1100 lumens.
I got a tad over 700 lumens out of the box… maybe closer to 800 (log is at home). With a freshly charged 30Q. I replaced the driver with a blf a6 one and swapped emitter with a sliced SST40. Now it’s making just over 1600. Perfect light now.
Nice! What’s the throw like? The Astrolux C8 uses a BLF A6 driver and an XP-L HI emitter, getting around 100k candella with a fully-charged 30Q cell, at about 1300 lumens. Does the SST40 with 1600 lumens throw further?

The SST-40 would have to be de-domed to throw similarly or better than an XP-L HI, not an apples to apples throw comparison if the SST-40 is domed.
In my own experience though, the de-domed SST-40 throws somewhat less than a clean de-domed XM-L2, albeit making much more lumens in the process. (The SST-40 makes more)
I thought when he said it was a sliced SST-40, he meant de-domed. Maybe not?
Nope, sliced, pretty close. Grabbed it from MTN. Finish on the remaining silicone is as smooth as glass.

I was off on my number a little bit. Still working on my sphere multiplier, but I got 1844 lumens (+ or -) and 131,551 candela for 725 meters of throw, measured at 20’ with an HS1010a
Richard puts LEDSeal on it after he slices it, which is why it’s “smooth as glass”
I got my host today.
I’m going to put a shaved SST40 led in it with a fet driver and make a yellow lighted tailcap.
I don’t much like the styling of this; it’s basically just ‘fins everywhere’
It is too ringy but it is good for heat sinking. I hope the led shelf going to be thicker in later batches. This one is the same as old C8
