Group Buy: Wuben TO10R and TO46R (real 90+CRI triple XP-G3) - CLOSED!!

I just paid for a 2nd TO46R from this GB (my friend is getting the other one as a birthday gift :sunglasses: )… I already have the stock TO46R and I love it, although I believe this NW high CRI version will replace it as my EDC light. If you haven’t paid yet, you’re gonna miss out on a great light. Thanks to everyone who made this GB possible.

Samples are here! They were randomly selected and shipped with full retail packaging. :sunglasses:

To my eyes, the desired color temperature and CRI definitely are there. maukka will get the lights tomorrow -> we know for sure after his tests.

[Tint shift is not significantly better than with 1st samples, but as we know: DC-fix will cure that]

Where do you buy DC-fix, and what type
Thanks
Robert

Paid for one TO46R. Thanks for arranging this.

D-C-Fix “Frost” FROST — d-c-fix - but almost any non-adhesive thick film with frost/fog effect should work well. My current sheet is probably a clone from LIDL.

This is only for making the beam more floody, or is it for color correction as well?
About how much will this reduce the output?

do you think, its possible to change the leds for brighter? xpl…or so…i mean home custom

It’s very easy to swap the emitters, unless they decided to glue the bezel in the new batch. You won’t get much more visible brightness though.

For normal outdoor usage, the light is good as is.

For photography, indoor usage, or just hunting white walls, it might be a good idea to apply DC-Fix. This will not only make the beam smoother and floodier, but also reduce the tint shift (towards green on the edge of spill).

Would be interesting to try XP-L2, but unfortunately, that would probably require also driver changes for any major gain. Has anyone tried this on his TO46R?

You don’t need DC fix. These are standard Carclo optics. the slightly frosted 10508, and more frosted 10509 are what this light uses. The light comes with the clear Carclo 10507. I tried a 10508 in mine, and it smooths out the beam beautifully.

Thanks everybody for your input
Robert

Hum, about this, I am not sure if - in terms of beam - the XP-L2 would be better! Brighter, for sure, but maye not better! I have 2 Sofirn lights that arrived with XP-L2 leds. One seemed more tending to 5000K and the other was a bit higher (5500 or 5700???).
However, both produce and yellowish and greenish tint shift similar to the one on the stock XP-G3 these Wuben lights have.

So…I am not sure if XP-L2 would be a good choice. However, a Luxeon V 4000 K, I guess that would be an interesting bet for these lights! No major shifts (or none), and a quite pleasant beam!!

But now let’s see how the leds we’re going to receive behave and that is the most important thing right now :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m hoping there will soon be a Luxeon V 5000K

Lights are in and they are CRI90+

TO10R on high

TO46R on high

That’s good to hear, thanks for doing the tests maukka :+1:
