Need recommendation for my first general purpose 18650 flashlight (Zanflare F1, Eagle Eye X6R, Convoy C8)

I always say that a bit of humor can help diffuse a situation…
If you’re standing before a firing squad, a little joke or two can help relieve the tension on both sides as they fill you full of lead.

As I said it is a bit anfortunate angle, and we can also discuss how one defines “big”, i.e. what is big for you or me, but F1 definitely is larger relative to F1, if its say 50% extra volume-wise, which is roughky the case here

Noone getting fired at, I hope

And also, the guy could have heard a few good pieces of advice

Zanflare F1 > A very nice light .
Yeah , charging - a decent dedicated charger should be on the shopping list if you plan to run 18650 .

Everyone is going to have personal preferences , but if you see the Zanflare F1 on special , it’s worth owning …
I got some F3’s when they were on special , and If I see the F1 on special again for $19.99 I will get another .

:+1: Some of the most entertaining dialogue happens when threads go astray.

Agree. While on the car itself… to a non-American eye, the car probably looks much more acceptable, and not weird at all

ZanFlare F1 vs Eagle Eye X2R:

actual weight without battery:

Cheers rhymeguy,

Can't say enough wonderful things about the BLF A6 flashlight from Banggood.com, bundled with the excellent Samsung 30Q (pink) 3000mah 18650 battery for $29USD ($26USD without the battery). Simply the finest EDC flashlight I've used, and a reflection of the community sourcing achievement of the members here. Best of luck to you..

:-)

a little bit OT, but hilarious Lightbringer, thanks for the smiles!

Amusing, have to admit
Although, coffee out of a can made me think again. I’d pass can coffee, packed toast and such anyway, sorry

That’s it

Absolutely, still my favourite. Just this evening I was passing throuh a small town far from home and noticed a huge warehouse with a WE BUY AND SELL ANYTHING sign, it was about 4:30 and getting dark, they had no lighting inside but were open until 5. Out came the trusty A6 and I had to turn it down to output 5 of 7 to explore a building as large as an airplane hanger without blinding myself on the closer things. On turbo it lit up the whole place.

Magnificent light.

Zanflare on the other hand, I have ordered 4 on separate occasions, 3 were delivered and only one worked ( an F1).

Thanks Zulumoose for your story,

Simply put, if you require a small tube 18650 light for the greatest variety of application, ease of use AND configurability should you desire, there is not even another option until you have tried the incredible BLF A6. For $26, and a wee $3 more for the absolute top-tier performing Samsung 30Q Pink 3000MAh 18650 cell battery bundled with it [available from Banggood.com] it is simply an uncompromising choice and inimitable value.

Previously my reference standard Every Day Carry [EDC] all-purpose performance light was a Nitecore MH23 [$100 MORE], which is still excellence in every regard, yet at FOUR TIMES the price of the A6...

Since recently joining BLF, I've found all the forum group design partnership models meet or exceed the quite unobtanium result of "this is exactly what I would choose for a design without compromise whilst keeping on the frugal side" philosophy which is the essence of this forum.

First, slack-jawed with the most impressive BLF Q8 quad XP-L soda can 4x18650 5000Lumen mini-monster, then the A6 for a single tube, and soon the legendary BLF GT reference standard searchlight that performs better than a $2500 HID searchlight for a tenth of the cost.

After painstakingly researching the dizzying myriad of 18650 lithium ion batteries available in search of strictly the highest performing, most durable, and high capacity cells available, the Samsung 30Q Pink 3000Mah cell has almost a [very well deserved] cult following, especially for extreme performance modded lights [also at $4/cell incredibly affordable for what it offers]

Whilst outside of your model choices, I hope my story helps you, as I sound a tad like a [unpaid endorsement] commercial for the A6. its $15 under your budget and it WILL NOT disappoint, I can assure you of that.

Finally a standing BRAVO ovation to those who participated in the genesis of "BLF" project light, and contributing members here that are truly exceptional shining brilliance in their "work" i.e. fanatical passion for design, engineering, and creation. Texas Ace, Toykeeper, MRsDNF, JasonWW, the Miller, to name but a few, I hold in legendary status in what they bring to this forum with their gifts and diverse array of remarkable skills and drive.

SO, a tad over the top, albiet heartfelt sincerety about the extraordinary composition of the forum membership here and their outstanding accomplishments partnering with the Chinese manufacturers in building "Moon Shot Dream Lights" that are shockingly affordable yet deliver no-holds-barred performance....

In short, BUY BLF :-) :-) :-)

True, but it’s still a bit embarrassing when you’re doing the Goat Dance around a few 8pax of 30Qs, and someone walks in on ya.

You don’t do that or at least some similar celebration when a new battery shipment arrives?

I have to get the whole coven assembled, first.

Ok, I can see that.

It’s nice, but I wouldn’t say that. It doesn’t have the throw of a single emitter XP-L HI C8, and the stock version’s UI could use some work.

I “fifth” the Sofirn C8F!

If you don’t need throw out past 200 yards (which I have with my several modded C8Fs using XPL-HIs/shaved XLP HDs- for my night hunting gun rig), then the C8F throws a very nice and very wide beam- and still gets out there pretty far. It’s fast becoming a classic and if you decide to modify it, it’s available as a kit and CHEAP! The factory IU isn’t bad, but it’s not as slick as some for sure. (The KD 8.2 in medium tint is a close second to my C8F- both are more $ though).

So, if I had to pic ONE out of all C8 models out there (and there are tons!) it would today to be the lighter weight, longer throwing, inexpensive (under $20 shipped from China) Sofirn C8A. It is really lightweight, it throws VERY close to it’s sibling- the C8T (which uses the XPL-HI emitter known for throw in most C8s), but it’s got a nice, wider beam than the C8T, and it’s not quite as “blue” in its light output- maybe around 6K? It also has very good run-time and a great IU from the factory.

I own many Sofirn lights as they are good stuff from a great company, and for the quality- hard to beat for the price. For $10 more on the budget:

— get a C8A and add the SP10A Lightringer suggested… (both about $30 shipped free from Sofirn’s Alexpress store). Then grab a pair of 30Qs (from GB or really good amazon seller- don’t pay more that $5-6 each shipped!), and some EBL (or Soshine white/yellow)14500s (about $2.50 each or LESS).

Then, snag a $4 charger from about anywhere (or find a deal on batteries with an adjustable style charger- so it will charge BOTH 18650s and 14500s- again check EBL) and your are set with two lights (with spare batteries and a charger) that will do a lot of things— all for around $50 and change. I use my SP10A EVERY night going to bed from my office so as to not wake the wife with it’s very low moonlight- but it can REALLY light up (use 14500s, not Alkalines- they leak and output sucks compared)- I LOVE the IU on the SP10A- perfect indoor/camp light that really fits anywhere.

But the C8F is super cool for the single 18650 C8 for sure… AND there is a new version coming that will still BE a C8 (but have longer run-time and be slightly longer). I will buy one the day it’s available to add it to my six C8Fs in my current stash (which I will be gifting some of by then). Did I say I love these lights?
