Thanks for the nice comparison, the XHP70.2 mod (with TA driver) is in the planning for my GT also so I’m glad to see it performing so well.

About the lux-readings: I recently (link) compared the LX1330B luxmeter (which is the one I think I see you using) to my high end Mobilux meter (which should be as accurate as you can possibly buy in a portable meter) and my LX1330B meter at least reads the cool white 70CRI XM-L2 in my Sunwayman D40A 9% too high, and a (70CRI) 4500K led 7.5% too low. That is 16.5% apart, so the spectral error of the LX1330B alone could already account for the reading difference that you find between the cool and neutral XHP35 Hi emitters in your GT’s.

Hopefully this should help lumintop see that making the XHP70.2 mcpcb is a worthwhile investment.

Yes, I have noticed these same things and about the same ratios on the cheap meters. The readings themselves are pretty good but they most certainty are effected by tint.

I have Anduril working on the BLF GT, in case that’s a thing anyone is interested in. Basic usage is very similar, but it has extra features compared to the original firmware. Granted, some of the extras are less relevant on a big thrower than they are on EDC-style lights, but some are still pretty useful.

Just thought I should mention it since it’s relevant to the topic.

This also means it should be pretty easy to get other interfaces running on the GT, since the library supports the hardware now.

Yes, this is on my to do list once I finish some other projects. I really want to play with Anduril just have not had time.

Eventually my GT will be running a XHP70.2 but I’m waiting for Lumintop or possibly led4power to come out with a dedicated 12V GT-XHP70.2 ledboard before that can happen.

In the meantime I received a (actually two) new XHP35 Hi emitter, in a nice 4000K 80CRI tint output bin C4 from Kaidomain, and to check if my severely underperforming GT (830 kcd) was suffering from a bad led, I swapped it with this new one.

And behold!, it solved the problem. Measured at 12 meter distance, on 30Q’s (shorty setup with one bsttery carrier) after 30 seconds my GT now does 1.0 Mcd (998.7kcd :stuck_out_tongue: ). Assuming that the stock GT’s have a higher D4 binned led (should on average read 1.15 times higher), this is perfectly in line now with the numbers that we measured from Nico’s GT.

And FWIW, like all other 4000K 80 CRI leds that I used from Cree in the last year, the tint is really really great!

Now the third GT also arrived to me to play with focus. The second which done only 870 kcd was worse than mine so it need to go to 3,5mm or above with centering plate thickness. I haven’t opened the third yet. and I haven’t got a lot time but I will sum up the conclusion when finished with all three and got the best results.

That is really a useful bit if information. I appreciate you letting us know. I suspected as much bet never took the time to try and prove it. I think I will take a look at some better meters soon…

The reading of the BLF GT is still around 13% under when measuring neutral white color with this type of lux meter. Adding this error will then give around 1.141 real Mcd intensity.

Made the GT centering ring in 3D and I made different thickness models. I will 3D print them and try the 3 GT soon. Sorry but I had a lot to do around the house.
