Guess What It Is ?

What I’d like to see is a high CRI COB in the middle and 12 high CRI XHP50.2 around the outside, both in neutral white.
It’s probably never going to happen though

CSI lamp with all kinds of colors from UV to IR and a COB

IR+UV+COB

X80GB

That’s the Group Buy edition!

My first and second guesses are already taken….so maybe 19*Osram Oslon Black HWQP?

One will be a flood/throw combination, with a deep central reflector.

One will be a pure flood wall of lumens, with 16 reflectors and 30000 plus output.

A third option might be to have easily swoppable drop-ins for the central core, selling as a set or individually

Interesting option….except that deep central reflector would make the light way larger. Catadioptric lens would work though.

12 xhp70 with center xhp35 (if that’s even possible)

I don’t have one to examine, I am assuming for that option that there is some space available behind that central PCB (it is already recessed quite a bit), and if insufficient, a collar could be added to move the glass further forward hopefully without adding much size, certainly not much weight if aluminium, and it adds useful surface area for heat dissipation.

My guess would depend on the X80’s reflector design.

If Acebeam keeps their traditional design I’d say…

  • X80-CRI Blue (with blue XP-E2 instead of red ones)
  • X80-CRI Green (with green XP-E2 instead of red or blue ones)
  • X80-PhotoRed (with XP-E photo red LED 650-670nm)

Infrared would not make sense in my opinion. The only scenario where I think IR lamps being useful is for hunting / tactical night vision. Those scenarios would require more throw as you want to “see” things in the dark that are at least a couple of meters away. Moreover, it will be difficult to mount an X80 to a rifle. So, the X80 is a flood light with very limited throw.

If Acebeam changes their reflector design…

  • X80 with 3x/4x XHP70.2 (like the Haikelite MT03) and XM-L RGBW or for throw an XHP35 Hi in the centre part
  • X80 with 4x Carclos as the Meteor M43 and different emitter types (XP-G3, XP-L2, SST40, LHD351)

A poll in disguise ?

Next combination could be 12pcs of XP-L2 for flood and and XHP35 in the middle for throw. Or 2 XHP70.2 and 1pcs XHP35 with additional red and blue led in-between.

A zoomie flashlight with 12 XHP LEDs?

EDIT: It would be the Z80 xD

My qualified guess would be:

X80-DISCO - with RGB leds in the ring and white XHP70.2 in the center, with disco strobe mode, when portable party is on the menu

X80-COOKER - showerhead with ultra overdriven XHP70.2’s getting scorching hot after 10 seconds. Designed for WOW factor to impress your friends and total strangers alike. When tossed into pot of water in turbo max-max-max mode, it would bring the water to boil in no time.

Two new products means I’ll give you two guesses.

  1. X80-GT with a throwy single emitter in the middle
  2. X80-L long version taking either 8 cells or newer 21700 cells

1. Same as current X80 but with neutral or warm for white.
2. XHP35 Hi for the white, to be less pure flood.

So did anyone guess wright? :sunglasses:

Same 12 or 16 led around the edge with a single big center reflector with an XHP 70.2

COB in the middle with the existing xhp50.2 setup on the outter. With the ability to turn all of them on together to reach 30000 lumens.

Clueless.. but i want one.

Did I miss earlier info on the X80-UV switch from 8 uv to 16 uv? or did they sneak that in here while distracting us with the “what’s next”?

It’s working the other way around for me, I can hardly drag my mind off of contemplating what sounds like the breakthrough outdoor-UV flashlight, to make guesses about what else might be nice.

I enjoy night walks with Convoy S2+ UV and/or Jaxman U1S, scanning for UV-responsive (mostly color change, not high fluorescence) fungus or plants, which I then hit with NW to confirm and evaluate. But I am getting a tiny UV hotspot with those lights, and having to grope with a second (or third) flashlight for “natural light” comparisons. My UV+white selectable flashlights have utterly inadequate UV compared to the Convoy or Jaxman.

So just tell me when I can buy the X80-UV.

And how did I miss this thread when the guessing game was still open?

Addendum -

My wild “guess”/suggestion - take the standard X80 and swap the whites & UVs, so 12 uv, 2 each RGB, 1 white - with the brightness selection on the white. Not sure if that would be useful to many, but it sure would be sweet. I’d like to see this, the regular X80, or any multicolor light, with dual controls - one to select color, one to select level: moonlight, low, medium, high, (turbo?).
