[M4Ddeal active]: XTAR PB2

Ordered one now.

Thank you Martin

thanks guys!

I received it a few days ago, and it works flawlessly.

@M4DM4X, could you perhaps send a message to XTAR to see if they could make a 3/4 cell of this charge perhaps with more features, like a second USB port, or USB-C, or Qualcomm Quick charge?

I would buy a nice amount for one.

Code please

join the list in the OP please

Thanks for the deal, M4D M4X! I just ordered one. Looking forward to it.

Ordered one. Thanks Martin

Just received mine. It’s extremely light in one‘s hand and the surface feels really smooth. I’ll put some VTC6s in it later on. A bit of chemical odor is left on one‘s skin after holding it but I hope it will diminish soon. Thanks a lot for this opportunity Martin! :-)

Wash your hands if you smell that.

Better safe than sorry.

Today I finally received mine. Everything is fine and after reading the reviews, there are no major surprises. The display is very hard to read with that light bleed and I wish it also had a USB-C port in addition to the micro-USB, also a better more powerfull pass-through charging, including a UPS mode would have been nice.

I have just one question. Has anyone here managed to open the damn thing without breaking it? The case seems impenetrable, I don’t wan’t to destroy mine, but I really want to see what’s inside!

While the display isn’t perfect, I have no problem reading it.

Ditto. I didn’t even notice the glare until it was mentioned here.

I noticed it, but it was so minor it wasn’t worth mentioning it.

Here it is showing 90%

91%

91%

….

Attach a blue filter on top of it and it’ll be as clear as day.

thanks for the code M4D M4X got mine today(was oos for a while)

just trying to resurrect couple over discharged 30Qs that discharged to 1.5v .

probably wont bring them back but worth a go, its displaying 00% im guessing it’ll take a few hours to go above 3v and display a percentage?

anyone know long it will take?

I would test the voltage while charging to make sure it is actually trying to charge them. If it doesn’t seem to be doing anything you could try and jump-start the process by putting another charged cell in parallel for a couple of seconds by touching with thin wire, that will get the voltage into normal range and the charger into normal charging operation. Do this for only a few seconds, and the cell will likely maintain voltage in the recognised range and allow normal charging.

It’s probably not a good idea with very old cells, and you should monitor their temperature regularly while charging and put them through a few discharge/charge cycles until they stop improving, and then see if they can hold their charge for a week before trusting them.

Disclaimer - I can’t vouch for the safety in jump-starting lithium cells, and welcome any comment on this by more experienced users. I have done it with great success so far though.

yeh the jump start method is a bit iffy for as i only have cheap multimeter.

but anyway i just measured voltage after 30mins (checking for heat every 5mins)or so and its was 2.95v so i put them back in pb2 and just checked again and its reading 10% already so looks like the chargers already paid for itself.

dont know if it will affect the discharge time but its looking good so far.

Received mine last week. It’s working as advertised, small, stylish, feels good in hands, doesn’t take any protected cells, hard to read, but… I like it. Any filter will helps to make it easier to read. Simply use car windshield film (not the metalized one) and off you go.
I carry it in my side bag plus 4 pcs extra whatever 18650s laying around.

My PB2 only charges a few devices. I did not manage to charge an iPad (Version 2017) nor an Kindle Paperwhite with it. It immediately stops charging when I attach the cables. When I plug my iPhone onto it, it works just fine. Any ideas what’s wrong here? The iPad should definitely draw more than 250mA.
