Skilhunt M200 (new release) magnetic USB pocket light

This Skilhunt M200 recently came under discussion in another thread. I’ve been looking at it since it was announced in the Gearbest new arrivals thread.

Actually even longer in a way:
Last year I came across their DS21 / DS21-HI models that had been recently discontinued, I really liked them so I contacted Skilhunt about them and they replied there would be an upgraded version in the future, so I assume this is the upgrade of the DS21.

I really like it, I’ll be keeping an eye out for a coupon/code/deal on this

Some standout features of the Skilhunt M200:

  • Compact size: 104.5mm length
  • XP-L HD 950lm ANSI rated
  • Available in NW 4500-5000K
  • Stainless bezel and magnetic tail
  • Copper MCPCB
  • Magnetic charge adapter (proprietary cable)
  • Has LVP shutdown when voltage drops below 2.8v
  • UI with shortcuts and 8 total levels - 2 for each mode (hidden double-click sub levels)

If I don’t find a code by the end of the day I think I am just going to order it. Looks way too good to pass up. Looks like the included clip only works for heads up pocket carry but I have a bunch of other clips around here. Think I can find one to work for head down carry.

Didn’t even notice the clip position, for head down I guess the clip would need to be attached closer to the tail, at least there’s a few flat areas around there. I’m pretty much as excited about this one as you, but I’ll probably be holding off a bit as there’s another light I need to get first.

Looking at the graph turbo appears to drop fast at about a minute, down to 50% within the first 2.5 minutes. But then it’s steady at that level for about 3 hours!
I would have preferred about 200lm more for turbo, but at least the 950lm spec is ANSI rated, so we can pretty much trust it will be at least that.

Another feature I just noticed I really like this “Switch locating Indicator” that you can toggle on/off.

Before I noticed that I was concerned with finding the switch because the magnetic charge port could be mistaken for the switch, being it’s at the exact opposite location and it’s bezel looks identical to the switch bezel.

It looks like Skilhunt has thought this one out pretty well!

Yep thats now on my shopping list. There must be a code somewhere.

Oh man, I don’t know if I can wait for a code. I am super excited about this. I have a bunch of EDC lights but nothing like this. Wish I knew if I would get it faster from Gearbest or ordering it straight from Skilhunt. I have the feeling before the night is over I will plunk down the coin for it.

If the price is the same, personally I would get it from Skilhunt direct, even if it took longer. My reasoning is for service after the sale, since it does have a Lifetime Warranty.

(I’m assuming) they would keep a record of your purchase so I’m inclined to think warranty service would be easier if bought from Skilhunt direct for any issues farther down the road, especially since they offer the first two years parts and labor. Even for the first 2 weeks it may be easier than dealing with gearbest.

.

Products Warranty:

1. SKILHUNT warrants our products to be free from defects in materials

and workmanship.

.
2. Within 15 days of purchase any defective lights will be offered free

replacement by SKILHUNT distributors unconditionally.except for damage

caused by misuse or insert batteries in wrong way or batteries weeping.

.
3. Within 24 months from the day of purchase.

SKILHUNT offers free repair after service, except for damages caused by

misuse or insert batteries in wrong way or batteries weeping.

.
4. Limited lifetime warranty.

SKILHUNT will still provide with warranty service.

Labor is free but we will charge for parts

It was just released so we may have to be patient and wait a bit before codes start popping up.

Sounds good. Think I will order from Skilhunt. Now I have to raise the funds. Told the wife I wouldn’t buy any lights this month because I went a bit crazy last month. I do have a extra Q8 and a few extra D4’s. Might try and put the Q8 up on the block to fund this light purchase. I knew those extra Q8’s would come in handy one day.

Plus it’s not often we have the option to order direct from the mfg, especially for the same price as Gearbest/Banggood/Fasttech etc…

.

I give you credit you sell off your extra lights and move on…

I REALLY need to sell some lights. (to fund others)

.
Another thing, Skilhunt sells the extra magnetic USB cable… I didn’t see it at gearbest
A bit pricy at $8 but it might be a good idea to have a spare to keep in the car.

.

Cool, thanks Beam0. Guess I better get one just in case. I didn’t even think to look for any accessories.

Well I did it. I posted my brand new Q8 for sale. :frowning: I don’t know why I feel bad. It’s only been out of the box once and I have two others. I should be happy to see it (hopefully) go to a new home.

Dunno if i want this or h03rc.

H03RC would bew a good choice as well, it looks like besides the angled/headlamp design everything else is exactly the same.

I use an angle light for EDC quite often, (Nitecore HC30) it’s helpful when I need to use it hands free, I just clip it facing forward to the front of my jacket/waistband/belt etc. Plus you can also use it in the headband when necessary. You just have to get used to holding it in a different manner that a normal light when using it by hand.

Also the H03RC is actually slightly more compact at 101.5mm vs 104.5mm

Well I finally got mine in the mail today. What a cool little light. I got the neutral white version. Love the beam and tint. I am doing some run time test now. After those are over I will take it out for some beam shots, get some other pictures, and do a proper review of it. Love the UI. It’s going to be a winner I think.

“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.”

So, I think you’re good to go…

If the band that goes around the light is too wide, try the deep-carry clip over at FT.

Some yayhoo practically sat on my holstered ’502, ripping the holster at the seams, and I didn’t want it flopping around on my belt, so had to pocket another light (the bolted-on clip on the ’502 isn’t deep-carry, and I’m not about to lose it when sitting down and it pops out of my pocket), so I started EDCing that UT20, also with a regular clip and narrow grooves, but the DCC from the S2+ fits absolutely perfectly in that groove.

So, for the first time in years I’m EDCing a light other’n my ’502, and this clip lets the UT20 ride nice and low with practically nothing sticking out.

Can’t quite tell from the pix, but it looks as if the groove for the clip is slightly wider than the other grooves on the battery-tube. If so, the ring around the DCC above almost for-sure would fit in one of those grooves.

Go crazy…

I’ve had this for about a week and I like it. I have some information:

My M200 arrived 8 days after I ordered it through the manufacturer. I was expecting a slow boat from China, DX kind of wait. Yippee…

Regarding the magnetic charging interface- Maximum current through the magnetic interface, with the light turned on, is 1.18 amps. Maximum observed charge current is 600mA. As expected, charge current decreases as the battery charges. The business end of the magnetic charge cable has a pair of LED’s in it. RED as the battery charges, BLUE when the battery is fully charged. Measured voltage of a charged battery was 4.1 volts. Having the charge cable illuminated is wonderful when I reach for the light on my nightstand.

There is this thing with magnetic charging- Connecting the charge cable to the flashlight when the flashlight is turned off may result in the charge cable lighting BLUE, indication a fully charged battery. This may not be the case. To fully charge the battery using the magnetic charge cable turn the light on, connect the charge cable, then turn the light off. This will fully charge the battery. Other than that, and the Chinglish instructions, the light is very well made.

The light never gets hot, just warm, suggesting that they were conservative with their design. The emitter could probably be driven harder, but that’s for another day.

I’ll try to get some beamshots tonight.

Cheers

Looks like the M200 use the H03 body tube and tailcap. Can anyone confirm? If yes, then this light is very slim and just 5mm longer than H03. This lead to possibilities using 18350 Astrolux S1 tube

I don’t have a H03 but I can confirm that the light is very slim indeed. Surprised me at first when I held it as to how slim it is. Very nice feel. Fit and finish are excellent.

I have a H03, and comparing with the pic, body tube and tailcap is very similar. Also the UI is the same I think, IMHO the UI is just excellent. Waiting for the coupon to get this M200.
