BLF Q8 lighted switch started to blink erratically.

Hi all. The lighted switch on one of my Q8 has started blinking erratically…

I remember this to be a common issue with the first batch Q8s (along with damaged screw heads), but this one is from the second batch where Thorfire used a redesigned switch pcb to fix the issue. Apparently it still fails at some point.

It’s not a big deal to me, although i got used to this intensely lighted switch.
Did this happen to you on a second/third batch Q8?
What can i do about it?

Thanks.

If you can’t fix it, you can replace it

I think for just a few dollars I would replace it if you can. I don’t really use the lighted switch on mine so I wouldn’t know if it started acting funny or not. I have it shut off in the UI.

I didn’t know spare Q8 parts where available… From Sofirn!?
That would certainly be easier then trying to deal with the tiny components in there.
I ordered one.
Thanks. :+1:

If I understand correctly, Sofirn and Thorfire use the same factory for making flashlights.

Looks like Sofirn saw a good chance to make some money by selling spare parts.

Hi guys, I am reviving and exhuming this ancient thread.
I have a BLF Q8. It has been working flawlessly for 5 years. But I have a problem with the rubber button over the switch. It has become too soft and does not really work anymore. It can turn the flashlight on and of at most due to its softness. The switch itself is FINE. I am looking for a replacement rubber button for the BLF Q8. Where can I order one? I somehow cannot find the correct size on aliexpress. The size is 14mm at the base, 11mm diameter and 6mm overall thickness. Thanks for any help.

Ask Sofirn either on their website or aliexpress store for a new switch boot.

I would be very concerned if it was blinking erratically without a battery in it.

It does not blink erratically, Just the rubber of the switch has turned into a dampener or a shock absorber when pressed, which makes using the light rather difficult.

Well, I shot a message to Sofirn official aliexpress store, they replied quickly, but I am at the beginning again. Sofirn do not have that rubber button ( still, they encouraged me to buy their other good quality stuff at low prices nonetheless…). Cant believe they did not use any standard size rubber button…

That sounds like it is identical to the switch of my BLF LT1, I would ask again.

1 Thank

Bad luck continues. Sofirn do not have an LT1 button either. Apart from this inconvenience, I was once again reminded to take a look at their other cheap and good quality stuff, but now they even added a KISS at the end of the sentence… What a pleasure doing business with them… Any suggestions where to get that rubber button? Thanks!

Rubber button covers are quite common if you look for them. Given the dimenssions you can probably find something that will work… and let us know. :+1: :slightly_smiling_face:
