ALIVE: Haikelite MT07S only US$46.72

You can check out the runtime graph of the BLF GT, also with 4S1P batteries and XHP35: Review: Lumintop BLF GT

That XHP35 HI was evaluated with the driver for a GT.
Is the driver for the GT the same driver Haikelite MT07S HI Upgrade version is produced with ?

It’s not the same, but it is (most likely) of the same type, i.e. a buck driver.

Maybe vs maybe not, is vs most likely, is confusing me and others here.
I will Email Haikelite and try to get an answer. I do appreciate you bringing that to our attention because this is one of the reasons I purchased this light to begin with,” for longer run times “. I had assumed because of the 4S1P it would have sufficient power to keep up with the XHP35 HI, but now I am not sure.

As BlueSwordM wrote, the 4S1P has sufficient voltage overhead to power a 6V emitter like the XHP70.2 (6V) full power without stepping down until batteries are almost dead (step down due to heat disregarded). The 4S1P does not have sufficient voltage overhead to do that with a 12V XHP35 emitter, as can be seen in the runtime graph of the BLF GT.
In order to have constant max output in the 4S1P XHP35 configuration you need a buck/boost driver. The reason I wrote that it’s most likely not the case is simply because I don’t see this in reviews. With lights using 4S1P XHP 35 or 2S2P XHP70 (6V), I’ve always seen reduced output with depleting cells, meaning a buck driver is used.
So there is no certainty, but statistically it seems most likely that the MT07S HI uses a buck driver and not a buck/boost driver. But of course you never know.

You can test this easily if you have a lux meter. Do a ceiling bounce with full cells, then a ceiling bounce with cells at let’s say 3.7V and 3.2V for example.

You are correct, I had forgot the XHP35 HI is a 12v led. I was thinking it was 6v.

Thank you for clearing that up ” hIKARInoob ” , I was confused again as usual.

Cheers man! And don’t worry, I’m confused all the time.

I do have another Question while we are on the subject, if you don’t mind me asking.

If a light comes with a 2S2P and 4 batteries for a XHP35 HI led, can you add 4 more batteries 2S4P ? Keeping the total voltage the same while increasing capacity without damaging the driver ?

Yes you can.

But you would have to make a longer battery tube.

If you do make a battery tube, perhaps you could sell it in a group buy.

An example is the Manker MK35 (2S2P XHP35). With 2S4P voltage remains the same, so the driver sees no difference besides a bit less voltage sag with 8 cells. But this occurs within the working voltage range, so no problem here.

Sweet :+1:

You guys are Great. I will make the battery tubes for two other lights ( MT07 and MT35 PLUS ) that need this. But the MT07S will stay because I need it smaller for every day carry use. I do Appreciate your enlightenment, I’m still learning…

Oh that would be dope.

Perhaps you could sell it?

Would be amazing.

Guys It has been more than a week since I reported my "missing metal belt/claw" issue to BG on 04/06. Since the last email from them on 05/06, asking me to wait, two further emails sent to them over the last few days are being met with silence. I also sent a message to the BG rep here a couple of days ago, but he/she hasn't responded to my message either.

Can I please ask those of you who ordered this flashlight on this GB to indicate which flashlight you bought, and if you received the "metal belt claw" (see photo below) in your package. It will help those of us who did not receive one when taking this up with BG. Thanks!

Oh that’s just great! :person_facepalming:
I have ordered mine on May 21, 2018 right after stocks were depleted. At this time the status was “pre-order” and until yesterday, shipping was expected for June 12, 2018, i.e. today. Today I checked once again and guess what… I have a new button called “apply refund”. The MT07S is now indicated back to “arrival note” and “coming soon” whatever this is supposed to mean.

I have a real bad suspicion that this situation is somehow in conjunction with Haikelite’s financial situation and Terry’s cryptical words about Haikelite not paying their bills…

“[…]Forgot one thing…. Good luck with believing Haikelite… and good luck getting them to send you anything. I do not care what the openly claimed. Ac fording to 5 different emails from Dale himself. BangGood and GearBest owe them over 40k each. I will happily forward that to anyone that wants to see it. […]

I don’t know what I should believe right now, especially about Terry’s last words before he became banned here. Of course, we need to be very careful about truth and lies concerning the dispute between Haikelite and Terry White. But there’re always two sides of a story, right? Anyway, I have a bad feeling about the MT07S ever coming back on stock again.

I too am getting a little concerned. I see the “Apply Refund” link now too on my order, but as usual, you can’t actually use it. When you try to submit it you get a cryptic message “Can’t refund”. I’ve NEVER been able to submit a refund request using that stupid link. I don’t know why it’s even there, it’s completely useless. Guess I’ll start emailing BG customer service. That should go smoothly… NOT!

Unless Martin can offer some info on whether we might ever actually get our lights… I’d love to get it, but I can’t wait indefinitely. It’s already been 3 weeks.

Brilliant idea CNCman !!

i would definitely buy custom machined extended tubes for these lights, and the size/thread compatible MT09R 70.2 TA Monster Triple, which could REALLY benefit from some dramatic capacity improvement options and much better weight distribution from a longer tube, even if still using 4 cells...

like the Otherwise excellent BLF Q8, I find the centered mass of the ubiquitous quad 18650 cell arrangement a bit much for real world use in a relatively short body length. In the Q8, which is a KISS 4P configuration, sometimes I run only 2cells at a time to avoid wrist fatigue to reduce weight. Sometimes I wish for the modularity genius of the BLF GT to be able to run either 4 or 8 cells with its extension tube, the added weight giving a huge usability runtime improvement.

I suppose I would prefer an extension tube for more comfortable weight distribution, with 4 or 8 cell options. I know with your machining background there’s a way to design this, and I would gladly make it worth your while, even just some simple prototype work.

please PM me for details, as I am very interested in the possibilities,

Thanks !!

(Sigh)

Really sorry to hear about your situation, FlashTom and CoolJB.

I ordered a white NW XHP35 MT07S on 5/24, and received it on 6/7, paying a few bucks for the Expedited shipping option, and it had the exotic braided paracord both pictured on the BG site and as above. I am very happy with the light, but I cringe at the negative experiences others are having with problems ordering and the whole SC26 fiasco... I can only hope these get resolved somehow, but now I’m leery of HL/BG for the future.

I still I’ll stand by the otherwise very good quality of build quality and performance of the 2 HL I do have, yet these negatives affecting others is not a good omen.

I just checked the stock situation on all versions of the MT07S. They are all OOS and on „arrival notice“ right now without any predictable date for stock replenishment.

Damn I waited to long to jump on this deal. I didn’t think haikelight would go belly up they seemed to do well. Really wanted a xho35 one. I have a 70.2 one. Might buy a second 70.2 if I can find one. I’d like to MOD one with the ta driver and keep one stock
