*** NEW *** Haikelite SC26 XHP35 26650/26350 aka Fatty ***Update*** 2018-07-24

Please add me to the list

I’ve just asked the manufacturer to sell it as early as next week. I am looking forward to a product, if it is on sale, I will buy it in China.

At this moment there is no relation between the group buy that Dale mentioned and the German distributor who is expecting the SC26 to arrive in the third week of June.
The news regarding the German dealer means that the lights are ready and we should be seeing them soon too.
.
.

I don’t know. But it looks like we might see some videos and tests first as the lights seem to arrive Germany first.

There is nothing official about the group buy, and I’m just a BLF member like you. I’m not involved in this. :sunglasses:

Can’t wait to see a review. I wonder how it will perform with the XHP35HI. Thrunite was able to push the 35 HI to 1900 otf lumens on the CW in the Catapult V6.

Hope it ain’t a dumb question, but what’s the advantage of a 26350 vs high-current 18350? In a small/short package, it can’t really maintain a high output for too long without cooking the light and/or your hand, no?

Lotta people p&m when “turbo” can’t be maintained forever, and grex about turbo timers stepping down the output, etc.

So if a 26350 light turns into a small curling-iron in 1-2min or so, is there really an advantage in that over, say, a fairly high-strung 18350 light?

Inquiring minds want to know…

I would like to answer your question but first let me say that we are Haikelite dealer since a while in Germany. We are shipping all ordered flashlights directly from Germany - no dropshipping or something else. As already mentioned in the first post we expect the next SC26 XHP35 HD shipment for 3rd week of June. Do not hesitate to contact me if you have further questions. By the way, I would highly appreciate your feedback regarding the SC26 colors - what is your preferred color? Blue, green, black or white/silver?

Cheers

Markus

Blue and Green for me

Well, compared to an 18350 it’s inferior both capacity and power. However, you can also compare the 26350 to the 18350 because of the same length (meaning same length light), then it’s quite superior.
There are two reasons why this format is interesting to me, specifically for the SC26.

1) The form factor of the light is quite unique, as the nickname is “fatty”: It’s compact but thick and the light has nice output.
2) The fact you can switch to the standard 26650 for a lot more capacity, much more than an 18650.

So you can do the same trick with a single 18650 light by supplying an 18350 tube, but the performance reduction will be more significant than with the SC26.

Welcome to BLF Markus! Thank you for the “Laufzeitdiagrammen” and beamshots of several Haikelite models; I found them very useful. :+1:
Let me start a poll regarding people’s preferred colour for the SC26, this might be interesting. :sunglasses:

Poll is here: Haikelite SC26 Poll: What is your preferred colour?

Blue and white colors look good to me. Hopefully, the SC26 will be available for those of us in the U.S. soon as well.

Blue, sand and green

I “get” that, at least in theory, but I guess my real question is how can you actually use that extra performance for more than, say, a minute, without cooking yourself and the light.

You probably remember the chorus of “If you can’t make it stick on turbo forever, don’t bother.” camp. Like, if it steps down after 30sec, 1min, even 3min, it’s “cheating” somehow, and just specsmanship.

So if Li’l Fatty can belt out a lotta lumenage, but cooks itself because it’s small/short/compact (and no angry-looking fins to speak of), then it won’t sustain any “usable” turbo for that long.

Absolutely, longer runtime at more modest levels is great with a 26 instead of an 18.

Don’t get me wrong, as I’m not poopooing it or anything, just trying to understand why the form-factor is so appealing. Even if shorter, a thicker light would feel bulkier in a pocket, no? C’mon, people were grexing about the F1 being marginally longer than other 18650 lights, as if they’re carrying a brick in their pocket or something. A shorty S2+ would be just as short, but thinner and lighter, and you can (within reason) ’rod it a bit.

Hell, I’ll probably end up getting one anyway, Just Because, even if I have to stuff an 18350 in there. Pist me off when I had to get a 16340 for my Jet-II… :expressionless:

It’s green. That’s the reason. I confess.

Hmm, that works.

I’m in for a green one like the one i ordered in the non GB still waiting for my refund.

I agree, I’m waiting for a review to see what’s the maximum sustained output.

Someone gave a good example why short turbo can be very useful. The guy is a climber or survivalist. Most of the time he just needed to see a few yards ahead, and that’s when he used low lumens. But once in a while he needed turbo to figure out his general direction. A distant path or something like that.
So perhaps it’s bit of a speciality use.

So if tests show this light has a sustained output of 900lm, I’ll call it a 900lm light with bonus 2500lm turbo. I’ll purely buying based on the duration of maximum sustained output.
Does that make turbo totally useless? No. I think many people, including me, will use turbo once in a while. I would prefer turbo to be hidden.

Currently my fav is an 650lm,18650 light. I’m searching for a compact 1000lm light that is very efficient at that level.

For those who were in the Group Buy from Terry - I got notice from Paypal that they recovered for all three of the lights I ordered. Check your email

Yep, I got a notice from Paypal today also. My refund is on the way.

I like BLUE. Will this light have Narsil?

May I ask no USB charging,… isint that the newest trend?

I am likely going to pick up on a blue and a green!

USB charging takes up a little space. One of the aims of this light is being as small as possible.

Paypal told me today that they decided in my favor and the refund might take 5 days or so. It also said that if there were insufficient funds in his account, that they will take appropriate action against his account.

Does this mean that if Terry empties his Paypal, refunds might not happen? I’d like to know how other folks have fared in situations like this.

Not to derail this thread, IF Haikelite can get this light working smoothly and powerfully, and IF there is a trusted review, I’d be glad to spend my money with the company that can get it done. I’d bet that others would too.

Oh, and I’d go with traditional Black or maybe the Sand(?) color. I’m tired of green to tell the truth.
