r3crac

Don’t worry, he’ll eventually show up in a new account. Very common BLF practice these days.

I’m sorry Trevi, but I’ll keep asking.

r3crac was a significant forum member for several reasons:

  1. He was not a new one
  2. He created a unique and valuable coupon database, here on BLF. Actually that’s how I noticed he’s gone, the DB was gone too.
  3. He had the skills to find some incredible deals. He was not the only one. But overall he had a significant effect on the numbers of such deals available to BLFers.

I suppose there was a good reason for the deletion.
But I don’t think that deletion of such member should be swept under the rug. I believe it should be at very least communicated. And at least briefly explained.

Frankly, I’m not here to judge whether the deletion was right or wrong. I trusted it was right from the start.
I started this thread because:

  1. I wanted to get the basic understanding of what happened. Not necessarily with all dirty details, just some basic facts like what rules were broken, if there was some action taken to correct rather then expunge. Your words largely explain it, though I believe some site staff would be better qualified to make such communication.
  2. To ask not to swipe such events under the rug in the future. This was a significant event in the forum’s life and I believe we BLFers deserve being informed when something like that happens.

Not this forum member. I dont deserve to know. I could care less what happened.
Not my business.

If SB banned him he had a very good reason that you can rest assured of. That’s enough for me.
Getting banned here is like working for the union, they don’t let you go for just anything, it has to be bad (with proof) why they let you go.

IMO there’s too much rivalry between affiliate members here, should only be allowed in GB’s (Q8, GT etc) to reward the team for their extreme hard work for going above and beyond to bring us unique ground up designs.

If it was a rivalry to keep prices low it’d be good, but it’s not, it’s a rivalry for greed.

That’s how I see it anyway.

Asking sb for an explanation will just add to the cloud over his head.

BLF is not how it used to be with the amount of flaming and post, thread deletions. I might suggest everyone make a concerted effort to not add to his worries.

Seems to me a PM to sb would have sufficed iffn all you wanted was an explanation?

’17ers always stirring up trouble.

I’d love an explanation of how the coupon code, group buy and affiliate link system works, including the etiquette and unwritten rules.

As I understand it, in addition to the ‘generic’ codes published by the retailers some members here negotiate their own ‘exclusive’ codes. I don’t see a problem with that - they’re stilll trying to get good deals for forum members.

Unfortunately, it seems like the retailers only attribute (and reward) sales based on affiliate links rather than the codes themselves. If someone posts a code negotiated by another user with their own affiliate link, they’re not only profiting from the first user’s work but also depriving them of income. That’s not cool.

I don’t know whether that’s all r3crac did, but I think that’s the root of problem.

Hi there, I don't publicly discuss any actions I take while wearing my moderator hat, and I request everyone else to also please abstain from discussing the subject publicly. Doing so only leads to more of the same unpleasant experiences that the banned user(s) was/were trying to create here. The only justification needed are the BLF Rules, with very clearly defined consequences for breaking them:

This should clear up pretty much everything:
Guidelines for Commercial Liaisons and Affiliate Linkers

Thanks sb56637! That’s a reminder that I should spend a bit more time in site issues subforum.

No problem, thanks a lot for asking.

thanks
lock it quick

 Believe it or not, I don’t enjoy locking threads. I only do so when people start to lose their calm and/or grossly violate the BLF rules. So to everyone here: please do your best to keep everything on the up and up.

I made a comment I should not have made. It was deleted. That was fare. Everyone has to follow the rules and live with the consequences. Let’s talk flashlights everyone.

Did Trevi_Lux vanished ?

He hasn’t appeared for several months in Forolinternas either.

I hope he’s fine ! It was a sudden disappearing…
