Please, don’t misunderstand me,the thread i’ve opened is just a “speaking out loud”, but was wondering if there were many more just like me, and i never said that Simon needs to be the one to improve the L6, but before upgrading a realatively medium head with more power,i would like a totally improved head ,bigger 50% maybe and tuned up with 3x26650 - maybe a poll wouldn’t be to bad
I like the physical size of the L6 just as it is. Maybe update to 70.2, SMO and higher amp driver?
Make the light turn on/off from side switch. This makes it easier to control.
Lighted side switch is also easy to do.
That raw finished L2 prototype is awesome. I’d like to see the L6 use that. I’d definitely buy that even if everything else inside was old. I would just mod it up. Lol
I like the idea of more batteries, but not the length. I would like to see the tin can concept with 4 x 18650 like the M6, a large heatsink and a target of 8000 lumens.
I personally wouldn’t be too interested in a fatter-head L6, or a 3-cell L6. There’s several larger-head lights already on the market, and I kinda think the current L6 host is about perfect, really well balanced and a great size for a car/nightstand/front door light. In fact mine lives by the front door. And several (many?) of us have already made some of the mods y’all are suggesting too — mine’s an XHP70.2 with a 3-channel TA driver with a version of NarsilM I customized for better turn-on control (tail switch power comes on in high unless you’re holding the side switch - then it comes on in moonlight). Zener mod for 2x26650 power. Its a great light, and if Convoy offered that for those who don’t want to build it themselves, you should all jump on it. Or just buy an L6 and build it yourself.
Larger head for triple 6V xhp50.2 with larger heat sink
3S 26650, buck driver
3000+ continuous lumens??
For me, an additional 65mm in tube length would not hinder my ability to hold, maneuver, or store an L6 style light… and would balance nicely with a larger head.
Actually, if the Sofirn SP70 does well, they may do a triple 70.2 version. It’s head is already going to be 15mm bigger than the L6 and S70. I doubt it will be 3 x 26650, though. Who knows, it’s a ways off anyway.
3x xhp70II would mean less throw, more heat, more money - hmm i wish sofirn would stay to a nice xhp70II thrower ,15mm larger head would be ok,but deeper reflector could be interesting for a very good thrower
