18350 flashlight with XHP50 or XHP35

Very interesting flashlights, (non budget) apparently these have been out quite a while but I just came upon them and immediately was very impressed.
Now I wonder has anyone noticed any comparable (XHP) lights with a lower price tag?

I’d love to see a manufacture such as Convoy or Astrolux bring out an affordable mini XHP with similar emitter choices, they already have the 18350/18650 tubes, I don’t really need (or want) built in charging or side switch. Anyone know of anything like these I’ve missed seeing?

i wonder will it be brighter than 18350 convoy s2+ triple xpl-hd and fet driver :stuck_out_tongue:
/jk, this is decent brand, and their build quality is also good

Yes, I have an EagleTac (The company’s former name) D25C2 Mini with XP-G2 (16650)

It’s excellent quality and elegant looking.

I’m running it on a Keeppower ICR 2500mAh 16650. Not sure why this battery format never became popular in flashlights, it’s the perfect size for EDC, slimmer than 18650 and about 3 times the capacity of 14500.

anyone has this flashlight?or is it too expensive for us:))

Don't really care at all. Mini-pocket rocket for 30s of light before your pants are on fire. Well, not really :-P but you know what I mean.

I also care about light quality, I'm a CRI and tint snob. :-)

Expensive toys without a doubt, on the other hand. The BTU PK26  is lovely, even the picture says “Compact Pocket Rocket” LMAO:

I have a spare H1-A driver on the way and some high-CRI XHP50 emitters over the table right now. I'm right now tempted to put such engine inside  this classic, and maybe inside this other one too. What do you think about thermals?

Cheers :-)

I have an Eagtac DX3b Mini (XHP 50.2 neutral tint)

Pros

  • Very small and lightweight - longer and thinner than a D4 with 18350 tube installed.
  • Very bright - note that the 2400 lumens reported by Eagtac is actually emitter lumens. OTF lumens is around 1770. The DX3B is definitely not as bright as my XPL HI D4 running on 18650. On the other hand, after about 40 seconds on turbo the D4’s thermal protection has dimmed it far below the DX3b’s output.
  • Excellent neutral tint - not greenish. looks great!
  • Stable output - a reviewer on CPF tested this light and found the output to be very stable. This has been my experience as well. The light turns on very bright and unlike many other lights STAYS very bright for much of the battery charge. Even the thermal protection circuit doesn’t drop the light’s output below 70%.
  • The button is stiff and small enough that I find lockout unnecessasry. I can EDC it without lockout and without accidental activation.
  • Good UI - From OFF: short click to turn on min, or click and hold for turbo. From ON: short click to turn off or long click to scroll modes. I think there may be a double-click to strobe shortcut, but would have to double-check.
  • Battery charge indicator - Once the light is on the button will blink 1-4x to show how much charge is in the cell.
  • Comes with a spare USB cover.
  • USB cover serves as antiroll device.
  • Excellent build quality
  • One of the slimmest 18350 lights around.

Cons

  • USB cover is well built, but pops off too easily. I would have preferred a cover that fits more tightly into its socket. I’m also not sold on the idea of using the edges of the USB cover for antiroll. I think a fully recessed cover would probably have been better.
  • No moonlight mode
  • The non-pro version does not come with an optional 18650 tube.
  • Battery charge indicator displays battery charge while light is powered. This means the results are affected by voltage sag depending on which mode you are on. In turbo you might get 2 blinks, but then swap to low and get 4 blinks. Most other lights with charge indicators test while the LED is not powered.
  • Battery tube walls are quite thin.

My conclusion: The Eagtac DX3b mini is an amazingly good pocket EDC light. Highly recommended. :sunglasses:

I always liked Eagletac’s build quality and emitter options in the D series but I never could get over the silly UI. Two different head positions, but you can still get to strobe in either one? Why not put all the normal modes in one group and quarantine the blinkies in the other? So close to being good and yet so far away.

So much this. SIGH
