FW3A, a TLF/BLF EDC flashlight - SST-20 available, coupon codes public

As we discussed, it probably has less transmissivity but light reflected off it hits the reflector and has a chance to return - so overall it ended up with 6% loss.
If the second-chance emission hypothesis is true, TIR lights like FW3A won’t benefit from it because most of the light that bounces off the lens will hit flashlight walls eventually.

I am interested in one.

Thanks!

Sunset mode doesn’t look very interesting. It starts at low, gradually ramps down for an hour, then shuts off.

Candle mode was linked a few posts ago, though the video doesn’t show its auto-shutoff timer. It goes at regular brightness until the final minute, then dims, sputters, and shuts itself off.

Candle and lightning modes are completely random and don’t repeat. It uses noise from ADC readings as a source of real-world entropy, so the random number generator is actually random and never does exactly the same thing twice. It’s not crypto-grade randomness, but it’s pretty good for a 90-cent chip.

That is so clever. Respect. Please don’t keep us waiting too long.

Edit: you seed it from the noise from the ADC? That would work.

Edit2: this is so marvellously OTT to make a candle or lightning mode so random. I love it. Shine on, you crazy diamond.

Sapphire is not a glass, it is grown as a single crystal of Aluminium Oxide.

It’s use in high-end watches is it’s extreme scratch resistance (it is nearly as hard as diamond). Actually quite easy to make, but not to shape.

Apple thought for a while that they would use it for the screens on top iPhones, but that project didn’t work, so they use Gorilla Glass like everyone else.

Except for the camera lense cover, where I think they still use sapphire for durability.

Optically it is nothing special.

Please add me to the interest list for one please.

It’s added into the mix on every ADC reading, so 8 times per second. It’s not the only data source though. So the result is highly chaotic and genuinely random, with all bits constantly in flux. The lower bits are a higher quality of randomness than the upper bits though, so it’s recommended to do things like “rand() & 0b00001111” instead of “rand() >> 4”.

Please sign me up for one.
Thanks.

I don't think that phrase means what you think it means.

English (US and/or UK) is not my native tongue, so I looked it up:

buyer’s remorse definition:
a feeling of regret (= a wish that you had not done something) after making a choice or decision.

Here's the definition I go by:

"Buyer's remorse is the sense of regret after having made a purchase."

*You actually have to purchase something to feel buyer's remorse.

Buying something can be devided into two steps. The deal (intention) and the delivery ((physical) transaction).
First step is where parties communicate their intentions (coming to a deal - offering something - paying for it).
Second step is actually delivering the item.
In the Netherlands the deal is annuled when one of the parties is unable to fulfill his/her obligation to deliver.
This can imply you have to pay for the actions that were already set in motion.

That’s what I have been told, about a century ago.

But feel free to think otherwise (other legal system?).

Close enough…… . . . :stuck_out_tongue: .

In this case the decision & declaration was made to be put on the list to buy one. It seems the remorse just reared it’s ugly head before the money changed hands. Maybe a technicality in some eyes… but the outcome is the same.

I think Henk4U2’s definition below sums it up nicely in fact……. :+1: .

Buyer’s remorse is often referred to as the reason for cooldown clauses in purchases, where you have 24 or 48 hours to cancel a deal without penalty regardless of whether or not a payment, delivery, or signature has been obtained.

The act of buying is not the defining moment, it is the decision to commit that is the turning point, after which second thoughts can creep in. The enthusiasm leading up to the point of commitment is a separate thought process to the hindsight afterwards, either one can be a distorion of reality since different emotions are brought into the picture.

Hmmm….more likely it is self preservation, his wife will end his life if he buys another flashlight!
