BLF Interest list for Very High Current Beryllium Copper springs Pt1(ENDED)

Interested in 50 - 50

Wow. Amazing. So many people want these kind of springs.

I had not expected such a demand.

If there are any springs left, if anyŲŒ I will give the rest to Richard at MtnElectronics and will point him to my supplier so we can get these springs all year long.

Finally, I will post some IRL picture of what the 12x9x7mm springs look like, so you have an idea.

UPDATE

Pics

The big spring is equivalent to the spring I have sent a diagram and measurements to the spring supplier. It is equivalent in size to the BLF Q8 spring, except that the bottom diameter will be smaller by 1mm to accommodate almost all tail caps and switch boards.

The small spring is the Fasttech Carobronze one just for comparison.

Once I get my sample of Beryllium Copper 38% IACS springs, I will compare all of the springs and compare their conductivity. If they are good, then the groupbuy will commence!

Also, if there is enough interest for the smaller driver side spring, I will ask the manufacturer to make a batch for it.

Sixteen big and twelve small for me.

Updated again.

We are up to 736 big springs, and 117 small springs.

We are getting close

Iā€™m in for 10 smaller springs. Thanks :+1:

Added to the list.

@chatika, there is actually a reason for the top of the spring being larger than the bottom.

This is to allow smaller cells to have contact with the spring, thatā€™s all. It also looks better for some reason than a symmetrical spring.

Interested in 20 large, and 10 small, if they prove to perform well.

Put me in for 15.

Most batteries have a large enough anode to ensure contact with the 5mm spring.
Anyway. Please change my numbers into (for now) 50 large and 40 small springs.

Please add 30 small springs for me and 10 big, so 30 of each in total.

Is the FastTech carobronze 4mm top diameter? āˆ…7mm of base, 10mm in height. This info in the opening post would be wise.

I'd like to wait a bit for the resistance test measurements, will them be soon?

Cheers ^:)

How easy is it to replace the springs in the Q8? If itā€™s easy for someone with not that much soldering experience, Iā€™ll buy a set for the Q8.

Iā€™d be in for 20 Large and 10 small pleaseā€¦

Put me in 20 Large and 10 small. Thanks.

A thought: conical springs, well designed, can be compressed almost flat without becoming coil-bound. These ones donā€™t look as if they can do that. Hopefully not a problem in this application. What is the height when fully compressed ?

Coil bind could be a possible safety feature with some combinations of driver depths, driver retainer rings and large battery contacts, like some 26650 flat tops, my Cometa comes to mindā€¦

The height when fully compressed is 4mm.

@Barkuti, I have asked for a sample of 10 springs to the manufacturer, and there being a holiday, I have not seen a response yet.
