Low-cost copper pills, spacers, optics, drop-ins (Updated 23/10/2022))

More than 6 month ago?
I dont see C8 spacer reasonable if you can get C8F with reflector and dtp pcb for $14.
For those who want to make unusual build I have C8TT.

I think some of us like options when it comes to hosts and e-switch/tail switch. Plus the increased costs isn’t always a deal breaker.

One blf member will have more interesting option for C8 soon.

Yes, I read it from Neven, that he will sell spacers, MCPCBs for 6 LEDs and a lens for 7 Emitters, the middle optic is not used.

If the lens is for 7 emitters, why not make the MCPCB for 7 emitters?

Because you need hole for wires.

kiriba-ru, do you have more of these good copper-made spacers for Convoy S2+ with triple emitter for sale?

Spacers in stock.
No emitters in stock.

Do you think the Small Sun ZY-T43 would also be a good host for Neven’s new option? 2 cells in parallel would be a good benefit, wouldn’t it?

It is too rare.

Sorry for being so inquisitive. What do you mean with “too rare”? Do you mean the flashlight is too “unknown” to say if it’s appropriate for Neven’s new option?

Nobody would invest in mod part for the light with unknown manufactured quantity.
There is probability that you will have more mod sets than hosts available on the market.

I’m interested in the C8TT head but do you have the updated version of SS bezel? With sharp crenellations instead of wavy. Like in the C8+.

Thanks

You can pm me, I will combine set without bezel for you, if you can get bezel yourself.

It’s hard to unmount the driver
The head and body of the lantern are glued together
Very thin layer of aluminum on the head, thickness less than a millimeter
During disassembly, I broke the head of the lantern
Do not waste time on it

If somebody will be able to supply 17mm boost drivers, I would make S2+ pills for single led.

kiriba-ru, the C8TT looks great! I will probably order one in the next few months. It’s too bad that there is no compatible 26650 (or at least 21700) body tube.

I read that you mentioned soldering a 17mm driver to the retaining ring. Will it only be fixed by the solder then (not good for mechanical stress…)? Is there no way to use a 20mm to 17mm ring, maybe one from Kaidomain?

C8 heatsink head was developed to use with current regulated drivers. Actually, this is test bench for those who want to confirm or dispose any supposes about flashlight cooling. Surely you can put 3 (4 with upcoming led4power boards) modern leds with fet and get 50-60W, but this power is not best idea to show difference between thermal transfert ways.
I could not find solution to fit 22mm driver, so it was mainly supposed that it will be used with 20mm boost driver from KD (modified to 3S). I had to make custom retaining rings, same time wanted to avoid problem that I met with S2+ custom rings. Milling grooved after turning threads put up some burrs and I have to calibrate every single ring with die to remove them. So, I added a lip without threads.
After I imaged all this on drawing, I realized that if I change ring inner diameter to 17.0mm, there will be a chance to use same ring in same head but with 17mm driver soldered to the ring. I think I left this opportunity for myself, probably didnt have any 20mm drivers atm lol. Dont think anyone have tried this solution.
You cant use driver adapter. With 20mm driver (1.5-1.6mm thick), you have retaining ring (threads part) almost flat (–0.2mm) to the top of battery tube. Any existing adapters are thicker, you wont be able to screw retaining ring down in its place so battery tube also wont be able to screw all way down (19mm battery tube can fit lip with grooves but cant fit 21mm threads inside). Also, ring is 17mm id, so it is not able to fit 17mm driver negative contact surfaces (outer ring), so you will need soldering even with adapter.
Im not sure youve ever pass solder mechanical properties in the config we are talking about. Driver weight is 3-10gr, damaging solder will require several hundred g acceleration.

Thank you for the detailed answer. I will solder the driver then.

What you mention is actually exactly what I want to do (led4power driver + 3x Luxeon MZ). The DD-mode is too much for this host, but that is the case for every 1x 18650/26650 host. For practical lighting the led4power drivers offer lower modes.

Those would run XHP Leds? I would buy driver and pill :smiling_imp:
