ThorFire TK18 REVIEW, short and sweet with lots of pictures. PROMO CODE!!!

Bottom line: This is one of the brightest single XPL / 18650 lights I have tested.

Construction, fit and finish are as good as any equivalent light costing 2 or even 3 times as much. This light is SOLID.

No complaints with interior quality of components. Springs are thick, diffuser is solid aluminum, switches are heavy duty, PCB is thick copper, lens is AR coated, (Couldn’t get driver out).

Rainbow looking light color separation is present but noticeably less than other lights with similar led/reflector.

I wish the low was lower, but the turbo is nice and bright.

This is for the TK18 SET

Sounds like a very nice light. It’d be really nice if Thorfire somehow got around to manufacturing them again and then delivered some to Banggood and they sent me the one I ordered a couple months ago.

Keep checking Amazon. Might be a 40% coupon-code popping up every now and again. Might not hurt to check freeme’s code in that particular thread, too. Never know if it still works.

review is too short

what did you think of the ramping?

  • on mine it was too slow, though they may have fixed that

what about having 2 switches?

  • i never got used to that

what about the length of the thing?

what about the special modes?

Ramping’s too slow on mine, too, and is linear, not logarithmic, so it kinda flies through the low end and seems to hover without much change on the high end.

2 switches, fine by me. Takes some getting used to, but it’s not a big deal.

Length is fine, as I’ve used an F1, UT20, etc., which are about as long (the UT20 is even longer with the usb charging), but definitely swap the come-with clip for a deep-carry clip, so it sits deeper in your pocket without riding too high.

Really like the pineapple knurling, as it’s different. Grippy, without sanding away your fingerprints with each use.

If TF would fix the ramping to be more like the Q8 or SP32A(v2), faster and logarithmic, it’d be a killer light. Until then, I’m using it in stepped mode, as they’re pretty well-spaced.

==yes the stepped mode is what i would use too, if it weren;t too long

Wellp, I was teethed on stepped modes, so it’s not a big deal to me.

Anyone questioning that should just ask, “If it were stepped with no mention at all of ramping, would I still buy it?”.

The answer to that should be “Absolutely!”, especially at the price I got ’em for.

wait, what was ‘the price you got em for’?

they actually are super well-made.

wle.

It was for a group-buy… not sure if it’s kosher to mention details even after the buy’s over. (If someone else wants to jump in, go for it; just that I’m not gonna be the one to blab.)

Let’s just say a bit less than advertised prices.

i get it, mine was a review sample… they are still, i will say, made better than any light i have, though the UI isn;t perfect

why can;t someone just make the perfect UI, then everyone could copy it, and BDWI
