I am looking for a high lumen (3500+ lumen) flashlight with power bank function (should be rechargable via USB too). Strobe has to be easily accessible. Should be a thrower if possible, but that’s not mandatory. I don’t really care about size and weight, budget is up to 200 bucks. Any suggestions?
Lights that somewhat fit the category which I’ve found until now (all pretty much on the lower end of the spectrum):
*) LUMINTOP SD75
*) Rofis MR70 (accessing the strobe requires 3 clicks… ugh)
*) JKK36 with XHP70.2 emitter
I have the Lumintop SD75: it comes with outboard power adaptor as charger, a 12vdc car cigarette lighter adaptor, has a 5vdc USB out as power bank function.
However, you should always consider the 2 cons I have with this light:
— horrendous, just terrible parasitic drain (ruined 2 sets of 4 18650s, one by me, the other with my brother in law)
— very poor battery quality springs in the 4-cell carrier (unprotecteds will just simply fall out).
I also have the Lumintop SD75 first version. When I do not use it, I will disconnect the batteries. Now a new version is already on sale (about one year). It has improved electronics - a lower parasitic drain and an improved battery holder. The new version is easy to understand. It has a copper (or brass) battery holder. The old version is aluminum.The first photo is a new version, the second photo is an old version. It is no longer sold.
The irony. I literally just came back from the super market where I ditched 4 30Q cells depleted down to 0.5V each. I knew the SD75 had high parasitic drain (predominantly the charger unit, and not the driver), but it was just a couple of weeks ago… Too late.

Hrm… Thanks everyone for your input - didn’t know about the drain on the SD75. Does the JKK36 suffer from the same issue? The battery compartment looks kinda similar, construction-wise.
The thing is… I want to put the light into my backpack and be able to forget about until I need it. I’m not sure what you mean by “disconnecting the batteries” - do you mean taking out every single battery of the battery-holder? Or just twisting the tailcap so that the batteryholder won’t connect (if that’s possible for that lamp). Because if I had to remove every battery and have them flying around in my backpack and assembling the whole thing again… I don’t think I want that

Emisar D4 on turbo: it depends on type of emitter and type of battery, but with a full cell you’re looking at about 15 to 30 seconds before step down.
I’m quite happy with Niwaker MM18III from freeme’s GB. The GB price is way below $200.
My Niwaker MM18III now Modded with XHP70.2 5000K NW, it measured 0 second~13000 lm/ 30 seconds~12000lm with my calibrated TA tube.
Uhm… just read some reviews and looked at the specs again. Is it really true that it has a Micro-USB in to charge it, but the charger puts 24 Volt out instead of 5V USB standard? If that’s the case it can only be charged by the charger included and trying to charge my phone with the integrated charger will probably fry it? That would really be an unfortunate choice for a plug if that’s the case.
