Withdrawn, Copper AAA Maratac w Nichia, sealed in foil, mint

flashaholism??? Yes, I’m sure that’s correct.

flashaholeism is not the subject of this thread…

stream of consciousness:

copper tool head fits copper maratac body yes?
Knurling varies between different versions of the Maratac/Tool

Massdrop copper tool has eSwitch, and LMH

Lumintop worm was also basis for Prometheus Beta, but w LMH

Lumintop copper worm is MLH, low is 3 lumen in Nichia
Lumintop copper Tool is MLH

massdrop copper tool is LMH starting @3 lumen in Nichia
massdrop Ti Tool is LMH

reylight TiTool and ReyLight CuTool were LMH starting @ 1 lumen
they were followed by the Lumintop versions, in MLH

see the pattern?
Lumintop builds MLH worm and tool
ReyLight had them do LMH tool CU and TI
Massdrop had them do LMH tool CU Ti and AL
DarkSucks had them do LMH from worm

Maratac is Lumintop MLH
(maratac claims vastly higher lumens but tests the same as Lumintop Tool on my lightmeter)

hope you dont get brainfry

I am not a collector, I might be an accumulator though

will not accept 10440 and the Tool w/o e/switch does

Ahh, so I need a ReyLight if I want a low moonlight and LMH, thank you.

I do see the pattern.

These lights are amazing. I am really coming around to the massdrop Tool for it’s quick/easy/one-handed operation. Nice light, just not as beautiful as the maratac. My copies of each have nearly identical beams at all levels. Thanks for all of the info, apparently I have more to explore.

not if it has the eswitch

did I blink???

I replied to a post and then it was gone….momentary…
I look kinda stoopid…I don’t like that

Does the aluminum Tool also accept 10440’s? I didn’t think so but am hoping that’s the case, thx.

I’m sorry, this is the second time I’ve deleted a post on this thread (and forum) because I DIDN’T READ closely. Initially, I thought you said the eswitch version CAN support 10440, then I read more closely, and therefore deleted my thread. I’m done deleting, promise. :person_facepalming:

I don’t have an aluminum Tool…butt I have a few copper ones which all work fine w/10440
none of my e/switch ones (titanium ones) work, just on one output
it has to do with the switch

Thanks so much, I might as well try it.

lucydog…
Thank you for posting this clarification.
It’s just hard to justify my reply when it’s gone.
Yeah, it appears that the e/switch can not support the 10440 battery.
The Tool is a great light and I carry one in two of my outdoor grab hoodies.

I got my e-switch version today and was initially putoff by the UI. “5 clicks to high??? Awe, h*ll no!” Yet it’s the one I’ve reached for throughout the day because it is one-handed and quick. I like it a lot, and I expect to like the reverse-click version even more.

I’m sorry for derailing this post, didn’t meant to.
Carry-on….

good catch!

heres the feature/bug skinny
the eSwitch Tools on 10440 are high mode only until the battery drops to 3.8volts

massdrop aluminum tool is eSwitch, so 10440 feature/bug applies

there is also an aluminum Tool w Nichia and Mechanical switch, it does work with 10440, but bear in mind there is no overdischarge protection built into the light

same for Maratac… no OD protection, and unsanctioned to use 10440, but people do…

Im a LiIon newbie, hung up on using protection in case I fall asleep with the light on

Hmmmm, now I’ll be researching whether my k18 has a protected circuit. As far as Li-Ion, the IMR’s are fairly safe - and you can always use a protected battery (if it fits). I use 18650’s, don’t so much see the appeal of the 10440’s over the longer running lithium primaries, except for the pocket rocket WOW factor. I prefer the CR123 size for more power in a small package. Years ago I used a mechanical ecig that took 10440’s, lasted about 3 hours between charges!

In case anyone cares, and since this thread is all over the place anyway  the 2017 version of the k18 does have OD protection:

http://www.ultratac.com/faq-items/does-the-k18-have-over-discharge-protection-for-10440-batteries/

so this is the rev. 4 model?

I do not know the Rev Number, there are no markings on the packaging to indicate Rev Number. But if I had to guess, I would say yes.

What makes you ask?

Maybe contact Countycomm to ask what Rev they were selling in December 2017, and share what you learn.

sorry to tell you, but i can’t remember why i asked, now. i also don’t remember what i had for breakfast, and it’s currently lunchtime

lol
I think you wanted to figure out if it is Rev4 (it probably IS), because you assume, as I do, that they started using N219c in Rev5, and like me, you know the N219b is better, less green.

and, Yes,
I remember you want to buy my Maratac
dont forget to send the money
