Ultratac A1 on Amazon. AA or 14500 600 lumen tail clicky. $11.95

No clue. I am assuming the driver characteristics increase output with the increased voltage. Current draw with a LiIon cell would also make for more output I am assuming as well. I am by no means a electrical engineer so I am just using the simplest answer that my simple little brain can manage.

This Charles BridgTec review provides a 10% discount code SS6TRV2E for the UltraTec A1 on Amazon. So, I cancelled my original Amazon order and repurchased one for $10.75. With Prime, it will arrive Tuesday.

Nice!!!

I also ordered one with the discount code. I had wanted a Nitefox K3, and a Tacteagle E09. With the discount and Amazon Card cashback cost was $14.68.

Looks like the price has gone up by a buck. May still be worth it. Is it any better than utorch ut01?

Wow, they can go to Hell now.

Was 12bux, limit 2, now 13bux and limit 1. Was just scrounging for something else to pad out to 25bux, and now this.

Wellp, they just lost my orders…

The Sofirn SF14 would be my first choice as an alternative to UntraTac 1A because the two are functionally similar, and the Sorfirn SF14 is a good value. The Lumintop Tool AA is another contender, but the SF14 is less expensive. You can purchase a SF14 from the Official Sofirn Store on AliExpress for $11.90 right now, and I've seen it on sale cheaper. You can sometimes find the Tool AA on sale for around $16.

The table below provides an output comparison of the three flashlights:

Flashlight Battery Lumens
Low Med Med
UltraTac A1 14500 20 280 600
AA 1 30 220
Lumintop Tool AA 14500 8 95 550
AA 7 25 110
Sofirn SF14 14500 5 110 600
AA 3 33 230

All three flashlights have

  1. A tail switch
  2. Three modes: Low -> Med-> High
  3. No mode memory. They always start out on Low.
  4. No Strobe mode
  5. Solid aluminum construction with an IPx8 rating.

The utorch ut01 is really not my type of flashlight (because it had a side switch and mode memory), so I'm not a good person to give you any advise about it.

If you want one I can drop ship it to ya. I got prime.

Thanks. I already have one Sofirn (SP10B), and don’t care for its greenish tint.

I appreciate the offer, but nah, I’ll pass. Them grapes went sour… :stuck_out_tongue:

Hmm, thought only the older As had that, as my Bs are paper-white.

According to 264's BLF review, the Sofirn SF14 has, "No pulse width modulation. White color beam tint. No purple-blue-green hue". To me, the SF14 output apears to has about a 5500 color temperature with no noticeable blue or green tint. But I may not be sensitive to these aberrations and they go unnoticed. Nevertheless, they are not an issue for me. Let us know what you settle on. Thanks.

Sofirn SP10B for $13.99. Not sure if that a good deal or not either.

I had one in my account cart yesterday at the 11.95 price. Came back this morning to complete the order and discovered the price has increased. Bait & switch? Greed in prep for Prime Day? Skirmish in trade war?

I've never had any UltraTac lights and likely will not in the future, based on their behavior. Reaching into my account cart to increase the price is shady & underhanded, to say the least. No different than being in the grocery store with a gallon of milk in my cart at, say, $1.99, then having a clerk pass by and place a price tag of $2.99 on it when I'm not looking.

For a society that supposedly is concerned with "saving face", these people sure aren't thinking about how their actions look to the rest of the world. Fake cells and wildly overstating cell capacities come to mind also.

/end rant\

I wouldn’t call that bait&switch nor shady. That is just how internet stores work - you can’t just put stuff in your cart and expect it to still be there at the same price tomorrow. Amazon prices change quite often - sometimes multiple times a day. But again, this isn’t something specific to UltraTac or even Amazon - most online stores work this way.

It depend on your needs. If you need a flashlight right away and this flashlight fits the bill, the price might be OK. It is a decent flashlight. But it can be had couple of dollars cheaper if one can wait for a sale. The AliExpress Sofirn Official Store seems to have a bi-annual sale, for example. During the last one in June, I picked one up for $10.42. They were even cheaper if you used their shopping App via a smart phone (which I don't own).

I bought one off of Amazon for $12.99 in March with a dollar-off coupon - with no regrets.

Agreed, and I’ve had prices go down, too, while languishing in my cart.

But the limit per customer sliding down from 2-per to 1-per just stinks. I stopped with GB coupons and flash-sales because of that, as it’s just not worth it.

It’s that double-whammy that soured me on the deal, and the mfr.

Anyway, water under the bridge, fish under the sea, whatever.

Never had that happen to me before.

I'd already committed to purchasing it.

Changing the price on something I've already committed to buy at a stated price doesn't fly with me. I'm not blaming Amazon.

shows 11.95 right now.

There is no “committed to purchasing it” until you hit buy button.

Appreciate the code. Thank you.
