Fireflies ROT66 Flashlight

So what is the difference between the 7050 aluminum on this light vs other lights?

this would be my choice as well. At first look at the original post I thought the one picture was of a clear anodized one!

Also given that usually a larger amount of lower driven LEDs are more efficient than one single highly driven LED, does anybody have any estimates on heat management or runtimes on constant current for the Nichias around 1000 lumen or 2000 lumen?

You point to CREE XPL hi nw? It is XPL Hi V2 3A

This made me do a calculation.
The Nichia’s are run at close to 700 led-lumen at max each to reach 5000 OTF lumen, and TA’s test of this very led shows that 700 lumen is right at the maximum that this led can put out. So if the 5000 lumen is real, this light seems to stress these leds to the max and they are not used very efficiently.

That would make 6000’ish lumen, is there really a 20% loss with the optics?

I e-mailed them yesterday, got this reply this morning:

Hello patrick

thanks for your email. and we will do a promotion in Budget Light Forum next week

Thanks

TA’s old calibration was measuring too high so you need to apply a correction factor of 0.70. Instead of 700 lumens, it will be 490 lumens.

I haven’t heard of any 219b flashlights making anywhere near 5,000 OTF lumens. So if this really does get 5,000 lumens with 9080 emitters like in the manufacturer’s test report, it is pretty darn incredible.

Oh no I ordered too early then!

Ordered me a NW XPLHi Champagne - love that tint - have it in a M34 and imo just the right tint.

XPL Hi = more lumen, more efficiency, more throw, and if you want to be a tint snob you could add something like this or this to the front lens and or a diffuser.

I can't look passed the name, in Dutch ROT isn't a very positive word, LOL. But I kinda like this light. I would have hoped to have the bezel a little wider.. At least as wide as the part below it, or wider..

But it won’t roll off the table being square and has more mass/fins for cooling

Yup. I like this light’s anti-roll design.

The anti-roll design is very thoughtful.

I wonder if it is hard to swap emitters on this thing incase someone wants to try say LH351D 90CRI.

Lexel, good job catching the counterfeit MCU’s. What a rotten thing for the distributor to do.

I see 14 x 7135’s on that PCB drawing, so about 5A max regulated. I see you labeled it FET+1, so the 7135’s are all on the same channel, correct?

Can the hole the lanyard ring attaches to be used as a tripod socket?

@FireFlies:
Is anything glued in this light (driver, MCPCB, bezel, …)?
Will there be a modding host?

I emailed the company something related and they claimed the LH351D would not “fit”. I’m guessing the height of the dome or something may be an issue cause they did mention the LH351B would fit. Not sure…

the board is build for FET+1 or triple channel firmware,
as in design process they were not sure if just use one AMC
so I put like on my drivers 2 jumpers that can switch the board electrical between the firmwares as they use different pinout
I am just not capable doing it in Narsil to much code related to the onboard LED that i could not route to another pin

they use triple channel on the light

In in in!!!!

It's looks awesome!

Group buy please?

Darn it… all these cool new lights coming out and I’ve spent too muchalready yet I really want to get this even while I have a BLF Q8.
