ALL THINGS BUDGET KNIVES

The price is now €29 (has changed since first listing) and the big stores like GB will surely sell for €25 or under.

For me this is not Ruike territory. Maybe for you but not for me. There are no Ruike dealers in my country; certainly no dealers offering free international shipping. Cheapest I can buy a Ruike P108 is therefore €70 shipped. €70 vs €25-30 …. big difference. More than 2x. Same for Real Steel.

Free international shipping is one of biggest advantage that Chinese brands like Sanrenmu have, at least for me. It cost me €10 to ship a knife 100 miles to my friend…meanwhile China can ship 5000 miles for €0. I know it is subsidised by their government but as consumer the price is what matters.

For about 3x$ can be a good deal. But if sanrenmu had put sandvik 12c27 the price would be less, typical 25$ or so like the other new models. That steel that uses is more expensive (ruike uses it a lot).

I don’t know where in Europe you live, but this Ruike P801 is $44 (€37), close to the initial price of that SRM, far from €70

Ruike P108 $40 plus p+p $13 or €45, half of your €70
https://www.ebay.de/itm/152871937776

So of course I get your point, shipping cost is holding me back from buying some fine knives, too.
I’d like the OKC RAT 2 in D2 steel but 50% extra for shipping, no thanks.
It’s also the reason why there’s so many fake RATs out there.
On the other hand GB wants $7-$8 for shipping to Switzerland, so I don’t often use their flash sales when shipping is again 50%

Still when you see $40 for a Sanrenmu knife that’s looking like a Ruike folder, then yes, that’s close to Ruike territory.
Made by the same folks anyways, so without a brand and with no real warranty of course it’s cheaper.

We’re also quite pampered with those awesome knives for cheap prices these days.
Imagine a SRM 910+ (2018 vers) or 9103/4, and what versions and numbers they bring, like 5 years ago.

The Real Steel e571 is basically a SRM 9103/4 with a different blade and handle shape, but technically it’s very close.
The one is a design copy, sold for $25 in Europe, the other one has an original design, goes for double price.

It’s smart from SRM that they didn’t bring out an unbranded version of that E571, but damn, I just hate their numbering system…

So I’m waiting for an SRM version of the Ruike P801 because I really like its small brother, the SRM 7129
And a Ruike P831-SF on a budget would be nice, but maybe till then I’ll go and buy cheap Ti folders from China.

The P801 is not particularly comparable to this in terms of style, blade width etc. It’s more comparable to the 8103/8104. If I was shopping for kwaiken style this would not be on my list.

Still, lets look at price: for me this Ruike P801 is €43 shipped. The SRM1161 is currently under €30 and lets wait to see the price when many dealers have it. I bet can be under €25. This is not “same territory”; it is almost half price.

$40+13 = €45. This is above the vat-free import limit in Europe. So you must add 20-25% plus an ‘administration fee’ of maybe €10. Total price €65 or more.

Again, as I said - if you live in country with Ruike or Real Steel dealer, no VAT, free shipping etc - sure, they are competitively priced.

But for me is not the case. So the SRM from China are much better value. I am not so much disagreeing with you, just stating that the situation is not the same for everybody.

I think it is already good value at $34. I consider to buy.

But right now there is just one listing (Sanremu Kechan Store). My point is that when there is just one listing for a product, the price is probably higher than normal. First listing has no competition. Eventually, when many store sell it, I think price will be even cheaper. Especially with coupon, flash sale etc.

Yes, as long as you buy directly from China Sanrenmu is cheaper, Real Steel, Ruike and the new SRM line are made for the international market.

I never had problems with imports from China. So much stuff is getting shipped from there that they just can’t check it all.

From the US I had to pay customs when it was only for tweaking wtf…

We’re actually on the same sinde, I also wish they’d sell some of those nice Real Steel/Ruike models under their own Sanrenmu brand and sell them for half the price.
We’ll see, maybe it happens, I’m not thrilled by the latest SRM models though.

Meanwhile I just carry my Real Steel Griffin again. Got it for €40 on the bay because the packaging was torn on the inside :stuck_out_tongue:

And still, with the $40 price tag listed at first it’s still Ruike territory MSRP-wise :stuck_out_tongue:

And another review, my first CH knife!.

Hi,

been reading these forums for years and now have a question for the first time I don’t find the answer for here....

I'm on the market for a folding knife that I was supposed to get at fasttech, since they have it in stock and announce it as having "free shipping" in the product page description.

Registered on fasttech website, made the checkout, only to realise that the free shipping option is not available and I need to pay the shipping in order to purchase the knife... bummer.

And GB does not carry that particular version.. I've stopped using Ali because there are a lot of counterfaits there.

Do you have any alternative sites with free shipping or with good prices for ganzo knifes?

Or a working Coupon for fasttech knifes (or other site) ?. It would be nice if I could bring the price down. :D

Any comments much appreciated!

Even wth those shipping fees of one or two dollars you won’t find a cheaper seller with so many knives in stock.

GB charges me seven-eight dollars for shipping to Switzerland which saved me a lot of money from impulse buys :stuck_out_tongue:

Try Exduct, Gearbest, Fasttech. Sometimes Banggood but not so much for knives.

Then maybe Aliexpress, Everbuying etc.

If you give more info on model number and shipping destination maybe I can give more specific answer.

FT’s free shipping kicks in at 15-20bux or so. Never put it to the test.

Chances are, just pick up a 2nd knife and shipping’ll be free.

@Adahn

I still haven't quite understood the GB shipping method. Giving one particular knife model as example, and shipping from fast-08 warehouse:

- To my country:

Expedited Shipping 2-5 business days €10.24

- To Germany:

Unregistered Air Mail 3-7 business days FREE SHIPPING
Priority Line 2-5 business days FREE SHIPPING

- To Switzerland:

No more shipping method

How can they ship free to one country and charge 10 € to another? To switzerland they do not ship the aforementioned model, but other models within the same specs range it ships for 4.25€...

Yes, i've saved a lot of money in shipping from impulse buys, which otherwise would get if it was free :D

@varbos

Isn't Exduct an US based company? I live in EU, so I can only order from within Europe or Asia. Shipping from US would probably cost as much as the knife itself.

@Lightbringer

Actually, picked up 2 knifes at GB three weeks ago, and I am still waiting for them. Let's wait and see if they sail through the customs without any troubles. I often only like to pick one at a time, and reduce in 50% the chances of getting inspected and potentialy apprehended by some customs staff that doesn't know the difference between a gravity knife and a thumbstud knife... but heck, they were both in flast sale and the shipping I payed for both were actually 10 cents less than if I bought just one. And I If bough them separately, would have to pay 2 full shippings.

I have tryed that at fasttech: with an order of 20 plus usd, I still have to pay for shipping. And with over 30.99 usd, the shipping is free. But then again, I can only import goods up to 22 € (25,45 usd). More than that, and will pay custom fees. Which would be worse.

@vimana Once I’ve asked GB on a specific knife (can’t recall which one - maybe the SRM 7129 when it was on sale for 6 dollar something) why it’s $7.xx to CH but only some cents to Germany.
The answer was the usual mumbojumbo about carriers and whatnot, so I just thought screw you.

Big advertisement with free shipping and then this? Thanks, but no thanks.

FT states worldwide free shipping on its knives, then you always have to choose an option for money, because: knives.
Yeah thanks, I got it, and less than $2 is ok with me, but then take away that fake free shipping ad.

They won’t cry over one lost customer on cheaper than dirt knives, so they go on.
And I think twice with my next order :stuck_out_tongue:

Hello guys!.

I just checked an interesting knife, Sanrenmu S725 (not S625). If you want to take a look, I leave the link:

https://chinese-knives.blogspot.com/2018/08/review-sanrenmu-s725.html

GB started adding shipping charge for knives a while ago, especially to countries where knives get often confiscated by Customs.
For example, they charge me $2 to $5 to ship a knife to Canada, but shipping to the USA is often free.

FT often gets 10/15% off their whole website which often coincide with the USA holidays.
If you are not in a rush, the next one will probably be the first week of September for the “Labor Day” holiday. This will help bring the cost down. Just keep an eye on the customer forum/promotions.

My review about the new Sanrenmu SRM 9018 flipper:

compared to the Land 910plus, SRM 9001 and 9011:

and my review about the Enlan EW105 “Budget Techno”:

That EW105 looks pretty cool!

Despite the small size the finger choil allows you to have a full grip on it.

I like a lot the 9002 and 9015 specially. One or two cms more and it would be a lot better for me.
But i like the new models from Sanrenmu. I hope they put new fixed knives in the market too.
