I used to have a lot of trouble accessing BLF.
At times, I couldn't open threads, I couldn't preview posts, I couldn't post anything, or I couldn't access PM's, etc.
The problem was my internet connection.
I have satellite internet, and it has abysmal latency.
I contacted Mr. Admin, and after I performed some tests on my computers, he recommended the web browser Opera with its data-saving proxy mode enabled.
I've been using Opera for over a month now, and BLF works much better with it than any other browser I have tried.
(Please note, Opera is not perfect. It's just the best I have found.)
If BLF works fine with your current browser, I don't see a need to use Opera.
Otherwise, keep reading...
Here's the web page to download Opera for Windows:
https://www.opera.com/computer
(If you don't use Windows, use the above link and click on your Operating System or "Mobile apps" near the top of the page.)
Note: The rest of this guide is for the Windows version, which is the only version I have used.
Once you install Opera, you need to Enable Opera Turbo.
Click on Menu.
Click on Settings.
In the bottom-left corner, click on Show advanced settings.
Click on Browser in the upper-left area.
Scroll all the way down, and click Enable Opera Turbo.
If you would like to use Chrome Extensions in Opera, go to this page and install this Opera extension:
https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/install-chrome-extensions/
Now you can install Chrome Extensions here:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/category/extensions
To disable Smooth Scrolling, go here:
opera://flags/
Search for Smooth, and disable.
To disable "Scroll on tab click," go here:
opera://flags/
Search for Scroll Active Tab on Click, and disable.
To do a hard refresh in Opera,
Hit Ctrl+F5
or hit Shift+F5
So, there you have it.
A simple overview of Opera, with a few tricks that I use.
I hope this guide is useful to anyone that is having trouble accessing BLF.
