Lifes disasters seem to follow me around.

Awww Man, That is a dragā€¦. hope things get better soon.

ā€ DBSAR ā€ It is good to share these experiences, your not alone. At least here you have many Comrades to lean on.

Sorry to hear that Den/DBSAR!

I feel for you. That said, Iā€™m glad I never married.

Damnā€¦ and Theyā„¢ (bank?) let that stand??

Iā€™d look into hiring a lowyer to sue her into oblivion, if not file criminal charges.

Iā€™d probably be tempted to sell her body-parts to recoup the bux, too.

What a disaster :frowning: . I hope you have good luck getting your finances back on track, and :+1: that you keep trying to get the lantern done

Maybe go seek legal advice? If you can prove you were split up then that $25k might not be your problem at all, just hers.
Either way you must sever all ties with her asap if she is going to continue gambling.

Ya know, loaning money to gamble is called loan sharking. Illegal. Family member got out of paying gambling debts with that defense. Of course it took a lawyer and a few years to make it go away. It was in excess of $100k though.

Sorry to hear about your bad fortune. If there is anything we can do to help. Just hollar my friend.

Sorry to hear that DBSAR. Things can only get better, right?

Hey.

Itā€™s only money. and not to much at that. be thankful yo got to it and blocked any more losses .
(You did. didnā€™t you!)

Br thankful you only got caught with that amount believe me.
See a lawyer, and just get on with your life hey.

we live in Australia. and mt wife loves gambling. But she can afford it.
She owned a Bingo business b4 we retired and sold it.
You wouldnā€™t believe some of the storyā€™s she tells. Pokies and Bingo. and horses etc.

Holy crap, I hope you can find a way through this!

It sounds like there may be some ideas posted above in case you havenā€™t already explored thoseā€¦ but mostly I hope youā€™re doing okay and your luck will take a turn for the better.

Wait, this sounds like loan sharking.

I hope all goes well for you.

Love it. :money_mouth_face:

Really sorry to hear Den. Take care mate.

Sorry to hear. Keep your chin up.

I have no idea about Canadian law, but in many states if the debt was incurred after the split was made then said debt belongs solely to the partner responsible for creating it.

This is something you definitely need to discuss with your attorney.

Hi DBSAR,

I have only been on this forum for a very short time, but I gather you are one of the most liked and respected members.
I can only wish you well, and hope everything improves for you in the future.

Aw man, Iā€™m really sorry to hear this. Thanks for letting us know. Glad to hear youā€™re taking it in stride and finding ways to move forward. Weā€™ll see you around here!

Marriage is a gamble. You can win big and lose big. With 40% to 50% ending in divorce or worse, it is tough making it work.
My wife is my High School Sweetheart, known her since the 4th grade but never dated until my senior yr. We have separated 3 times, once for 2yrs, but slowly started dating again. This August 31st will be our 40th together. Marriage is never perfect, but I would do it all again, but with different decisions of course. There are times I wish I had not married and my wife feels the same way too, to be free and single and younger, LOL ā€¦. But when you see her with her grandchildren, you know thatā€™s not really true. Life is like Poker, you have to play the cards your delt, the trick is to keep on smiling in the rain and sunshineā€¦.

I am Happy for you ā€œatbglennā€ and a lot of us envy you and respect that decision to not marry.
I know for a fact there would be many many more flashlights on the shelf if I were single

Sorry to hear that. :frowning: . Hang in thereā€¦ā€¦ :+1:
