Fenix E 11

I bought a Fenix E 11 for my wife several years ago, and she didn’t ask me to change the battery til just now. It was swollen and corroded. I got it out, but, doing so, the tailcap switch got disassembled. It is in about a half-dozen tiny little pieces, and I can’t figure out what goes where.
Are there any schematics available that show how to get the thing together again, or should I give up, and buy an E 12 for me., and give her my old one?
Does anyone have any discount codes for Fenix lights?
Thanx!

Don’t give up on that E11 yet! Is it the ‘original’ E11 or the ‘new’ style that looks like the E12?

My oldest E11 is from 2012 and still works great! I bought several for friends and family after I got mine.

I looked around for a teardown of the switch but couldn’t find one.

Let me know which one you have and I’ll disassemble my tailcap to help you get yours back together.

Mine looks like the E12.

Here’s the newer E11 tailcap teardown.

Note that both black springs are slightly tapered. The narrow ends are both pointing left in the photo.

I tore down the old style E11 tailcap too.

The brass T-shaped piece mounts on the top posts with its silver contact touching the brass bump.

Thank you very much…the E 11 is back together, and working well! My switch looks a lot like the older style, and once I figured out where those 4 little posts were supposed to go, (It’s really hard to see the little tiny holes in those black plastic pieces!) I was able to get it to fit! Large, hammy fingers don’t make for an easy reassembly :expressionless:
Once again, a THOUSAND thanks! :+1:

BTW; I emailed Fenix about repair, and they told me the light was discontinued, And I expected the “So Sorry, but no longer serviced” reply. But, they are sending me another light as a replacement! WoW! Thank you Fenix!

Impressive thread, glad it got fixed.

Dam goshdogit, that’s some kick ass photos and teardown info. I’d say that’ll make a super-fix-it-upper for E11/E12 switch issues. :+1:

That’s great news! You’re very welcome. :+1:

If your wife’s flashlight gets used infrequently, you might consider using a lithium AA battery. They’re more expensive than alkalines but they hold their charge for a long time and will not leak.

Eneloop NiMH batteries are also a good choice if you’d like to use rechargeables.

^ what Goshdogit said. Great investment especially for people that leave the battery in their lights and go on with their busy life. No leak.

I have a potful of Eneloops that I use in my photo equipment. I will replace the alkalines with one of those. I’ve never tried the Lithiums due to the co$t, but the long charge life might be a definite advantage. You, Sir have some great photo skills!

Thanx!

I use Eneloops in my lights and really like them.

When I gift someone a flashlight, I include pack of lithium AAs or AAAs.

I give strict instructions that they’re only for the flashlight, not the TV remote or the kids’ toys!

For a light that is not used much I install either a lithium or a rechargeable battery. I admit tha for gifts I only install alky batteries.

Nice tear downs… But gosh those are some complex tail switches.

I go lithium AA/AAA for gift lights that I’ll never ever see or see the gift recipient again for a while. For family, I’ll include an Eneloop.

I found my once forgotten (or thought I lost it) Eagletac D25A Ti (single AA) after 2 years and the Eneloop (Costco bought from 2009) still had juice. If it was a alkaline it mostly would have leaked and ruined the internal.

Anyway, glad things worked out.

Very nice gesture to help and awesome pictures. It agreed that’s a butt load of parts for the clicky! No wonder twisties are considered much more reliable.
