Dealextreme are they for real?

I placed an order with them on the 18th Feb. I got a paypal transaction ref number from DX, but no conformation of order email. So I waited a couple of days for the email to arrive. No such luck! I then tried to contact DX by opening a ticket, they say they will reply in 24/48 hours, so after few more days I opened another ticket, that was 10 days ago. Every time I log in to DX and check the CSE ticket delay notice It seems to me that they will never catch up,it will be, to my calculations 3 weeks before I get an answer! Now I have also gone on their 'live chat' several times with no luck. Last night I was on there for 1 hour 22 mins without a response!

Is this really how they do business? I have had some serious problems with DinoDirect, but this is unbelievable! At least if I go on DD 'live chat' I can talk to someone within a couple of minutes. I have had no option other than to open a paypal dipute. Lets see if they reply to that.

DX are pathetic! I know they can be cheap etc, but I really don't know how they stay in business.

Unfortunately, I no longer do business with DX. It's sometimes tempting, because their prices are often quite good - but their service is downright terrible and their shipping speed is worse.

Manafont is my go-to china supplier, and I even go to alibaba/aliexpress occasionally. DX is on my s**t list..

P.S. From experience, they won't reply to your paypal dispute - they'll just allow the refund and cancel your order.

DX is like some zen riddle in patience. After I place an order, I try to make a reminder to check on it in 40 days (so time for a paypal dispute), and then promptly forget about it. Eventually, something comes. Maybe this is how the elderly feel at Xmas.

When you go into your account at DX does it show the order?

No nothing, it's as if I don't exist with them.

there is stuff which can be purchased (or at reasonable prices) only from them because it is NOT available elsewhere, then i order from them. simple example:

Protected Ultrafire 10440's.

( Dinodirect doesnt even carry Protected Trustfire 10440's for that matter. )

Limited number of orders, but I did not had any problems with DX. Usually the good experiences are not mentioned.

Exactly. If not for the Paypal record I could believe I dreamed some of my DX orders. No order number, no confirmation, no reply to emails, zilch. Last order took over 8 weeks to arrive. I contacted them just before the 45 day limit, no reply. Then I forgot to chase it and missed the dispute deadline. Resigned myself to lost money, then my light arrived when I'd pretty much forgotten about it. FWIW I've never actually not received a DX order so far.

I've said it before, with age I have become very, very patient. But I would at least like them to have sent me an email saying thanks for your order. I wouldn't mind if it takes weeks and weeks to get here, but nothing, nowt! I can't help thinking they are just a little ignorant. 'We are cheap so put up with it!' kind of attitude.

Up until recently that could have been me writing! Sadly it just doesn't work that way. It probably should, and I'm only now getting used to the fact that it doesn't, but that's just the way many of the Chinese sellers do business. I'm not condoning it, and maybe one day they'll improve, but for the time being I'm more or less resigned now.

I placed an order with Dealextreme on february 3rd for a FandyFire STL-V6 (awesome flashlight btw) and just got it yesterday. I was frustrated as well as I never received a confirmation or thank you for the order but it did eventually arrive. DX would do well if they improved their improved customer service.

What kind of checkout are you guys using? I'm using PP express checkout all the time (over 30 orders now) and I always receive order confirmation to my PP email.

I use whatever system they offer. I put the item in the basket and pay through paypal, I don't if it's express or not.

I used to order from DX. I always had good luck with them up until the new year. Since the new year over there, DX has been totally lost.

What bothers me the most is no reply from the vendors overseas. When I contact a US vendor, I get an answer in minutes or at least within 24 hours. When I contact DX, I never get an answer. I even have/had a direct email to them and since the new year, they don't answer.

It's too bad, because they do have some good prices and some items that I can't find anywhere else. I wish these vendors would fess up and tell people what is going on. It would help their image? Maybe not. Maybe there's so many people ordering that they don't have to worry about pissing people off. Especially since they do not refund.

I got my refunds. I went through the "ticket" route and never got a reply. Then I went to the forum and I posted that I was going to have Discover Card go ahead and collect the money for me, since DX would not answer. I gave them a date and time that I would call Discover, if they did not refund my Discover Card on their own.

Well, 3 hours before the deadline, I got an email stating that I had been refunded for the two orders that they didn't ever ship. Amazing how that worked out. Then I got the confirmation for the refunds.

I guess if you bitch enough, you can get a refund. I didn't threaten them in the forum. I simply told them that I will do XXX on XXX date & time and it's a communications notice, not a threat.

Hope you can get somewhere with them. I never use my Paypal account directly with these vendors. When I check out with paypal I do the "don't have an account thing", type in my discover info and address and paypal takes it without recording it to my account. Paypal will work on disputes, but it takes forever. Discover will take on disputes and it takes one phone call and no waiting. That's why I do it that way.

I don't know what the Discover card is but I presume it works a little like my Visa debit card. I can click the Paypal button and not log in to my account but pay with my Visa debit. If the company decides to arse about, I just call my bank and say the magic words 'Charge Back'.

But I just thought I would use my paypal account and see how it goes. And of course if paypal ever fail to resolve a dispute, I just say the magic words again!

You have to log into the new DX site to see your recent orders. I was freaked out also until I figured this out. Relax you need to be patient if you want any satifaction from DX.

Were you signed in your DX account when you placed the order? I once did not sign in and also did not receive an order confirmation via email and when I did sign in, no evidence of my order. My order eventually came in 3 weeks.

It was my first order, so I think I placed the order then had to open an account to carry on. The usual I guess, not sure really. I did put my email address in, so they at least could send me my order conformation. Normally it's automatic.
