I do not know which reflector shape they will use. I suggested experimenting with shapes, but do not know if they will do that. The worst outcome would be that they go for a parabolic shape because of the suggestion, with the led at some random height without checking the beam. I can hardly imagine that they will do that because there are some smart enough folks there.
I hope it is ok that i setup a new servey. I hope most people are ok with the Noir/djozz Tailcap Design.
The servey is only about the trit and magnet hole.
Thanks TheOnlyDocc, and Iām sure the german button does not confuse people (fertig=ready)
And I hope that going forward with the Noir/djozz tail (with or without holes) does not hurt the feelings too much of people who wanted a different design.
While the Noir/Djozz tailcap seems popular, I know there were a number of people against the idea of having magnet hole/trit hole, so I want to make sure they can be heard and counted.
This survey will be open for the weekend and I will present final results on Monday. If you are interested in buying one of these lights, please take this survey as soon as possible or forever hold your peace.
One thing I think would be great if it ends up with a trit slot is to have access to purchasing trits (uninstalled) to be shipped with the lights.
I would imagine it is rather expensive to buy and ship one or two trits from another source.
Just a thought.
tritium vial cost anywhere from $6 to $14, so that would double to triple the cost. I think whoever wants them can purchase them separately because it might not be worthwhile for Sofirn to stock those.
As for the magnet hole, it will add a bit of cost but would Sofirn consider producing matching anodized caps/plugs? Whoever doesnāt like the magnets holes can simply press fit the cap into the cavity. The people can also use the cap to hold the magnets.
Just some suggestions, no demands.
Can you modify my interest for 1 3200K and 1 5600K? Thanks.
From what Iāve read so far, it is supposed ti be that way, each person that wants buys the tritium vials on his/her own!
Also, if there is a diffuser as accessory, it will be sold separately, in any other source/store!
Only accessory to be included, as far as I perceived, is the pocket clip (wish it was placed upper so that it could be more deep carry, but I will not generate entropy due to that )
Put me down for a 5600k one! I was just going to stick with my tool aaa, but I really canāt pass on something of this value. Especially with that CRI and tint
That is one possible feeling, but another is to wish for some general consensus, hence the polls. And then perhaps some prototypes that will be tested (by Sofirn and I really hope by BLF members too) Then there will be a poll about the ano colour (3 colours will be made, I assume black will be one of them) before production really starts.
If it even does half as well in your tests as the E01 has, Iāll be happy.
Either way, I will consider your tests the authoritative word.
Very nice to hear theyāre eager to get going. Sounds like I will have these lights in hand long before I get an FW3A.
We seem like weāre getting close to settling on a crowd favorite for the tail design.
The only open question on my mind is whether they plan to test the āreflectorā design before committing to it. It shouldnāt need a full prototype - something as simple as turning the planned profile on piece of round stock with a hole in the back to position the emitter correctly should do it. Then just hook it up to a bench power supply and check whether it creates easily noticeable rings, a dark spot, or other unpleasant artifacts.
Iām not really expecting any significant effect on the beam. Itās just nice to be sure it turns out right on the first production run.
Meanwhile, the talking is going to continue. Itās a sign of how much people are looking forward to this.
Another DIY idea for those who donāt want a magnet and/or tritium, fill the holes with glow in the dark epoxy. I have never done it myself, but have seen people do it on flashlights and other various EDC gadgets.
