I like the cat6 beam profile because it’s all hotspot and little corona. That’s mostly thanks to its wide and shallow reflector with large opening at the bottom around the emitter.
The man that did this video said he would choose the Lumintop over the Thrunite. Funny how everyone talks about the Thrunite and no one talks about the Lumintop. The V6 got some recognition and everyone ran with it with hardly any mention of the Lumintop.
The lumintop is basically just a Manker U21 clone. Manker U21 got plenty of attention when it came out. It’s still a very impressive light when modded.
They both have the same LED emitter. Not positive on this but I think the GT Mini reflector is a little bigger but the D1S is driven harder, they should have similar throw. GT Mini might have a little better throw but a little less lumens.
Thanks for replying. I’m somewhat of a newbie and trying to understand… What makes it not durable, and what would make it more durable? Could a mod fix it? Thanks!
From what I can see in mine, it seems like - and I hope that is - a factory bypass. Looks like there is a tab (brass?) under it on which the top metal resides when battery pushes it. If someone managed to take a photo of what is under it, I would like to see it.
Freedom of choice is great. as long as we are happy with whatever torch we use that is all that matters.
In regards to the heat of the V6. I have developed leather hands w/ all my modded lights.
The first time I ran the V6 I ran it for 35 minutes on turbo[continuously bumping back up every 60 to 90 seconds] in a Temp. of 78F/25.5C and ONLY turned the light off once for about 60 seconds to change the battery! To my surprise I noticed that it cools down very quickly in a short time that it was off[about 60 seconds]. Our hands are good heat sinks and can absorb a decent amount of heat.
I have a few lights where I must turn them down after 5 to 8 minutes. This is not one of them.In comparison, it does not get that hot for me especially when I can do this in the summer time!
Again, it is what we are comfortable with, use to and what we prefer.
