Ultratac A1 on Amazon. AA or 14500 600 lumen tail clicky. $11.95

Just received the following answer from mike@ultratac.com:

Subject: Re:A7 AAA Flashlight Modes
It's not hidden. it's inline with high anf low.

and here is my reply:

Mike, thanks for the quick response. I, and perhaps others on BudgetLightForum.com are disappointed that UltraTac decided to implement the strobe mode on the A7 inline with High and Low. In my opinion, the strobe mode should be hidden if used at all on any new flashlight.

The UltraTec A1 is currently a very popular AA/14500 form-factor flashlight on BLF. See this thread. Is there any way that a promotional discount code could be obtained for our forum, perhaps in exchange for a review? Appreciate any consideration. Thanks again. Alan, aka ActiveAl

Yes, still going to do one. Got kind of lazy. I want to finish up some run time test with both NiMh and 14500. I will get them concluded today and tomorrow and write up a full review. I have a bunch of both kinds of cells charged and ready so I will get them going now.

Thanks A1 for reminding me. I get lost sometimes and need help finding my way.

Hi,
does anyone know why it is not on the ultratac site?

My guess is that they don't have the staff to keep it up to date. Why don't you ask mike@UltraTac.com?

He called you steak sauce  LOL

But seriously, this A1 is up to $15.88 right now.

Price now up to $16.95

Back down to $15.88 at 9 am EDT.

A1 is actually my name in hexadecimal.

received the following response from Mike at UltraTac:

I am so sorry. But for A7, it is only a low price and mini size but well built flashlight, we need to control the cost and the size. That's why we did not hide strobe. But A7's default mode is High, with no menory. If you do not like strobe, just turn off the light and turn on it after a moment, it will become high mode again.

For A1, I will try to apply a discount for BLF, but may be later, because we do not have enough inventory in Amazon. I will inform you the discount after we prepared enough inventory. Thank you.

In reply, I thanked him for the discount offer.

I believe that the A7 is designed as a flashlight that looks and feels good, but is seldom used. A good work-flashlight, IMHO, should allow the user to go from High ->Low->High without seeing strobe.

I get the feeling that the A1 price fluctuations on Amazon are tied to inventory levels. That is to say, as the inventory drops, they raise the price. So the trick is to buy right after a new shipment arrives and the price is at the lowest.

I emailed Mike at UltraTac an invitation to join us on BLF:

Mike, you may communicate with Budget Light Forum (BLF) members directly by:
1. Creating a BLF account here.
2. Reading the rules for commercial sellers here.
3. Posting here.
Members will provide you feedback. Please let me know if you have any questions, and Thanks! Alan

Did I leave anything important out?

Update: Moderator007 and I traded PMs on this topic. He stated the steps above are correct for a seller to join and participate in BLF, but warned against sellers using PMs for solicitation unless initiated by a member. But otherwise, sellers can use PMs like any other member. If UltraTac joins BLF, I will pass this on to them - probably by PM.

Umm, to stop playing stoopit games with their prices?

You can get alerts on Amazon price drops using camelcamelcamel, but most of the times the info is hours old. Here is a chart from camelcamelcamel on UltraTac A1 price movements since it first came out on Amazon:

FWIW, I've got a price alert on camelcamelcamel for A1 price < $12.

Yup, camel works well on items that have infrequent price changes. On items that change price every couple of hours, not so much. By the time you get notified, the price would have already changed again.

Yeah, that would be doing what used to be called, “pursuing a wild goose”.

Just to be clear. Moderator007 isn't a mod here on BLF .

There are no mods here on BLF other than the owner of the site .

people don't seem to know this and are always asking mods to step in and delete this or that etc .

IMHO self moderating not only means watch what you say and do .

It also means help moderate the forum. When you see someone acting up maybe send them a kind PM asking them if they are having a mental breakdown :P

Never know, but in meatspace he could be one big graphite rod…

FWIW, the 10% discount code SS6TRV2E is no longer valid on the purchase of an UltraTac A1 on Amazon. This change occurred less than 24 hours ago - I know because I keep an A1 in my shopping cart and check the price there at least once a day. This has become my favorite flashlight to give away to muggle friends, and might think about picking up more if I can get a serious deal.

Hello there are currently some code for this flashlight?
Thank you

There is a 20% off coupon on Amazon US, but I don’t know if that helps you.

thank you very much

Thanks for sharing this Pete. Somehow I missed it on the Amazon thread.
