Thanks Bonham again for reminding us of timeless bands like EWF…
They are indeed my favourite funk band.
And thanks for letting us know about Aretha - The Queen
I just looked it up on the news after I read this.
We can only send our best thoughts to her and wishes for recovery.

My claim to fame is that I met Johnny Winter Three times in my home town of Phoenixville, PA.at the Colonial Theater. My Jimi Hendrix Pictures got me back stage ALL 3 times! My brother took them on April 12, 1969 @ the Spectrum in Philly. Of course Johnny played w/ Jimi and loved him!
People were getting autographs[20 second encounter] and it was more important to me to spend ~ 3 minutes with him, show him the pictures of Jimi and talk about him and Jimi.
The other is I met James Allen Hendrix Twice in his home in Seattle,WA. He is Jimi’s father! The year was 2000, Two years before Al passed away.
I grew up in South Africa in the 70’s and remember the popularity of Rodriguez and the life & times as described in the movie.
The one thing they didn’t really mention was that he was also quite popular in Australia and toured here in 1979 and 1981.
This is a little different for this thread, but several of us here at casa manithree are really into jazz. My daughter recently introduced me to the sounds of Polyrhthmics and EMEFE two bands she saw at the Telluride Jazz Festival.
Oh, what the heck, here is that same daughter playing barefoot jenga, then introducing and performing with the Hooligans Brass Band.
I had that Sparks album but gave a lot of my records away when I moved countries.
The vocals of Russell Mael sound very similar to Freddie Mercury.
Both bands released their first albums around about the same time.
The summer has already passed, but Ouzo still reminds me of my vacation and the hot days.
Mentioning ouzo we always think of Greece, the islands and Greek music.
And one of the best - Dimitris Mitropanos with Roza
