Sofirn C8F host. 21700 C8F Available

Does anyone know if Sofirn also plans to update their other C8 flashlights (C8S, C8T, ...) for the 21700 battery size?

I’ve not heard anything about that, or different colors. Sorry. Maybe Sofirn will answer.

They may be using this model as a test to see if people will really buy a 21700 light. It’s still a pretty new battery size.

On the SP70 at least, they said the new ramping will be 3 seconds from end to end. We will have to wait and see.

Sorry for not replying. I got my Imalent DT35 after 2 months waiting and it is DOA so I was upset and made videos and pictures.
I only copied the whole writing and modes what Sofirn sent to me so sorry if some errors they have. The last info about turbo is 3500 lumens. We will see what is the final when they list it on Aliexpress.

Oh no! The hold for off is the only thing I didn’t like on the C8F. I hope they change it to click for on/off.

I wouldn’t mind waiting 2-4 weeks for the new version

It should be available sooner than that.

I spotted the new light for sale on the Aliexpress store.

The battery is rated at 4000mah. Maybe it’s a Liitokala or Lishen under the wrapper? Those two are basically the same battery and a good choice. Has anyone heard details?

It’s a bit more expensive than I imagined at $41 $35 with no battery and $48 $41 with battery and charger.

I believe they will be doing a Group Buy soon.

Cool white or Neutral? Any ideas?

Yeah, that’s Emisar D4S territory.

Not really. D4S is $48 base model with the 219C or XP-G2 emitters and $66 with the XP-L Hi emitters. The C8F should be able to maintain output better than the D4S although the maximum brightness is lower. I see a $10 coupon at the aliexpress store so you can probably get it cheaper.

It’s their usual 5350K-5700K neutral white. Same as the 18650 version.

That’s for new users on orders over $119. So it doesn’t apply to me.

They probably adjusted the price in anticipation of the upcoming AliExpress sale event. It shouldn’t be near the price of the Emisar D4S, in my opinion. For a few bucks more, most people here would go for the D4S. If Sofirn is smart, they should keep the price near the original C8F. I hope the host will become available soon.

With all the great features ofvthe D4S, it has TIR optics while I like a good reflector beam much better. So I think this light is in a different class.

I hope that they did the ramping well, at least with the Q8 they should have had a good example.

I don’t know why anybody would compare the C8F to the D4S. The C8F is slimmer, lighter, cheaper and has a reflector style beam pattern with a distinct hot spot and good spill lighting. The D4S does not interest me at all. ¯\

Just like you, djozz, I am more partial to aluminum reflector than TIR optics. I know exactly what the C8F is and what it is not. My point is the $41 - $50 range is pretty crowded nowadays. Many good lights can be purchased (after an appropriate discount) at that price range. The thing is, most people here have already built or owned the original C8F. I for one, is not very keen on getting another C8F. Sure, I’ll buy the host, because I like assembling my own lights and I enjoyed building the last C8F.

Whoop whoop! “List price” for the 18650 version all over the place, depending on which specific listing you look at. I expect the semi-permenant “discount price” will look better.

I’m looking forward to being able to order a bare host.

Ordered my first 21700 hope it not disappoint me.

C8F body is slimmer, but its head diameter is actually larger than D4S.
C8F’s weight is listed as 200g. D4S shipping weight is listed as 187g on Int’l Outdoors - I don’t know if that’s accurate. If so, actual light should weigh even less.
Both C8F and D4S are kind of in between a thrower and a flooder, but yeah, the D4S is going to be a bit more throwy overall.

Current pricing is such that both lights are not far off from each other. Now, if C8F goes on sale for closer to $30, then that’s going to make it significantly more attractive.

I currently don’t own either 21700 nor 26650 cells, so either light would require me to invest in new cell format. Not sure that I care either way.

Considering this is the host thread i hope it becomes available. In for at least 2 when that happens
