BLF Interest list for Very High Current Beryllium Copper springs Pt1(ENDED)

Not doubting you at all BSM. . It is just weird that TA got his over a week ago & the rest of us have nothing. Just goes to show the inconsistencies that can occur with shipping & receiving…… With no apparent rhyme or reason considering they were apparently all shipped at the same time on the same day.

Look forward to the drawing. +1 for what Teacher said. I don’t think anyone is doubting you sent them etc. The fact that you still show up to the thread is evidence enough for me

For me, things usually go to Dallas TX and then straight by here to Austin, TX and back to me. I’m about in the middle between Austin and Dallas (actually about a third of the way, closer to Austin…60 miles to Aus and 120 to D/FW) but the big trucks carry things between hubs then smaller trucks carry things to the towns. So it would be fairly normal for there to be a day or two difference once something hit’s Dallas and then to get here. A week? That’s odd. But then, this is the USPS we’re talking about and I’ve seen things ship to Florida then back to Dallas then to Austin and to me, when Florida was 1000 miles out of the line. Go figure.

Edit: To clarify on that, I’ve seen a package go from Illinois to Dallas, then to Florida, then back to Dallas, then to Austin and then to me. A machine read the zip code wrong. Happens all the time. With all the Automated stuff these days a smudge or bit of dirt and zoom! Off to the races…

Yeah. I know you guys are probably going to get your springs, hopefully.

BTW, I’m finally going to get a DPS5015 buck power supply so I can finally test the spring at higher currents, as my current power supply is limited to 6A before the voltage collapses down from 4V to almost nothing.

Also, I finally came back from my trip. I went to the Czech Republic as a stop, then directly to Turkey, back to Czech Republic, and then to Germany in Berlin, and then back to Prague in the Czech Republic and back to Canada.

It was a truly wild ride.

@DBCustom, wut? How could they actually miss a packet by that huge distance?

That does sound like a “wild ride” BSM, I hope you enjoyed it thoroughly!!

Interesting journey choices, certainly not mainstream. (kind of like Dale’s packages  )

Ok guys.

I just realized 2 things.

1. I completely forgot about Mr.Scott’s spring order, and by adding TomE, AEDe, and the TheOnlyDocc to the order list, there are only 25 big springs left for Mr Scott. We are at literally 1975 springs, which is the reason why I wanted to stop the group buy, so I could get myself 100 springs, but I split up my order by half so TomE, and TheOnlyDocc, along with AEDe could get them. So MrScott will only be able to get 25 big springs.

2. What kind of spring would your prefer as a smaller spring?

- One like the Fasttech Carobronze spring, only with thicker wire, a wider top, and less coils so there can be more spring movement while not sacrificing too much mechanical strength, while still being way better mechanically than the Carobronze spring, according to my calculations.

  • One like an almost symmetrical driver spring.

The 1st choice would allow for a dual spring amount, and would allow for a full 20-23A of current to pass through a single entry point, rather than 13-15A like my current spring.
You could use it as a smaller spring, but you would have to flip the top and the bottom to allow it to fit single side driver boards.

The 2nd choice would allow for universal compatibility, but making it much harder to incorporate as a dual spring.

What do you think?

Also, the list has been updated.

Edit: The first point is null now.

If needed I can give up some of my springs

I totally want option #1 for the small springs so I can use them as dual springs. In fact go ahead and up my small spring order to 100 total springs please if this is the case so I can use them all as double springs.

The Fasttech springs sag real quick.

You recently added 5 large springs to my order - its not much but you can take those off my order

BlueSwordM you can take 8 big springs off my order if that helps make up the shortfall.

Wouldn’t this mean that TheOnlyDocc, the last person, has asked for springs that are not available?

Yeaaah. However, I was willing to take off some of my springs so everybody could have them at least.

This is why I wanted to stop at 1950 springs: in case there are problems, there would still be springs that could be shipped.

Edit: Maybe I should have changed the title when I closed the GB. My fault. :person_facepalming:

Also, there is a good reason for why the Fasttech Carobronze spring sags electrically and mechanically:
it has a way too wide top diameter, thinner wire, and probably uses a lower electrical grade phosphor bronze at 15% IACS vs the C54400 19% IACS of the djozz springs. It also has a bit too many coils. Removing one while widening the top diameter would help a bit in terms of mechanical strength.

Edit 2: I’m way too soft. I should have refused for his spring demand.

@shirnask and skinny-tie, I will put some extra things in your order so you will still have some good things in your package. Brass buttons and perhaps, some small extras :+1:

@Mr.Scott, I’m really sorry for forgetting about your order. I’ve corrected the error now.

Edit 3: TheOnlyDocc, out of kindness and patience, will wait for the next batch. So you can get your springs back.

Can I have 25 small springs? Thanks.

Done. Updated the excel file.

I would like 50 small springs.

Added too.

Add 20 small springs, please

Thanks BlueSword, I’ll gladly take 25 and be happy with that. Don’t want to cause any problems.

I’m on the list for 50 large and 50 small. I’m willing to take 10 less of each if that will help spread the love.
