(prototype) the GT Mini

Just an update for those still waiting. My only previous tracking update was July 31 saying it was accepted and processed through facility in China. Today, Aug 20, it now says it arrived in Chicago. So 3 weeks put probably 2 or 3 more days shipping till it should arrive for me.

Mine still in Chini since the 3rd…but mine goes to Chicago also…hope it moves soon.

Mine is still somewhere between the A Ω …… Apparently lost & confused in it’s search for the USA…… :person_facepalming:

This is just getting crazy now…

Yes… it is getting somewhat comical indeed…. . … :+1:

Has anybody tried disassembling the GT Mini? How hard is it to remove the driver for purposes of updating the firmware and replacing the integrated switch? I think replacing the switch is the easy part. I’m more concerned in pulling out the driver and putting it back in.

Dale opened his as soon as it arrived.

You’ll need to remove the bezel, lens, and reflector in order to unsolder the LED board so you can pop the driver out.

Dale’s bezel had plenty of threadlocker but others have reported little or none.

Dale also said the driver still goes back snugly after being removed and reinstalled.

I’ll be flashing ToyKeeper’s Andúril UI to mine as soon as it arrives. It’s en route but seems to have taken a holiday in Chicago.

Copy that. Thanks. I’m expecting the bezel thread is glued, considering the flashlight is made by Lumintop. So the technique of removing the driver is no different.

Can someone post picture of head spring on this light, my looks some kind of strange, it is distorted and unequal

Mine looks the same. I don’t think it’ll have any adverse effect on its performance though.

That looks like one of those new ’Cattywampus HP Springs’…… (“HP” = High Preformance) :+1: .

Replacing the switch will be the hardest part. Followed by getting the bezel loose. After that it should be a snap.

Ok, thanks I just asked, light is performing normal, just was curious.

/\…. :+1:

Wait, it’s not a gold plated spring.

Something seems… off about your sample.

mine is not gold plated either atleast the head spring isnt but tailcap is gold, but his just looks awful, mine looks alot better.

I received the GT Mini and holster today - ordered from Neal August 7, 14 days ago.

Real nice C8 style light!

More compact then the C8 actually, with a wider head and more throw. Illuminated side switch and ramping UI are a real plus for me. Well done Lumintop! :+1:

I believe a 26650 tube would have been just right for this head and would have been closer to the GT big brother proportions?

good to hear patmurris!

about the spring
neal says Driver spring is berylium bronze

Is that CataWomped berylium bronze—- I think that makes it handle more current

Oooh what kind of beryllium copper are they using?

That would explain why the GT Mini can still attain very high lumen numbers without a spring bypass on the driver spring.
