ENEDED

MF01 minor updates happening soon.

Can you tell us details?

Just wondering if this still active?

Noticed this is on BG 12th anniversary sale at an insane price of US$69.99. Just wondering what people think which LED option is best? 219C or XP-G3?

define “best”
XP-G3 is brighter and gets slower hot, 219C has a way better tint and of course the high CRI

I have the 219C Version and would always go for that.

ssschen if u want as bright as possible get the xp g3 version, if u dont like cool white and want better tint and slightly lower lumens, then nichia version is better but everyone likes different.

good morning to all,

first of all sorry for my not good english

i am new user. i have very little experience with led flashlight and lithium batteries…

for many time (buy in 2014) i have used the FENIX TK45 that i consider a very good light with AA cells, i am very very happy with this light…

now, after 4 years, i see many many many flashlight with an impressive power of lumen… i am very very curious and i decide to buy a NEW led light: the ASTROLUX MF-01

but… probably i have purchased the light too fast, because lithium cells seems very difficult to manage… i am NOVICE for these type of batteries…

i read that i need a good charger: OPUS, Xtar VC4 (or Dragon)

the big problem are the CELLS… for the MF-01 i need UNPROTECTED batteries… can some one suggest me how i have to prepare my self with these batteries? there is a serious risk of EXPLOSION???

if i forgot to remove the cells from charger, there is some danger???

and again, for this MF-01 i can only use the SAMSUNG Q30? or there is a new (and better) batteries?

about the light, i buy it from BANGGOOD and i need to test it (but need the cells before)
the light is perfect, there is ONLY ONE DOUBT… inside the glass protection of the led there is a very little point of dirty filament… just to the center… how it’s possible? i can remove it? or it’s insignificant? i have to tell to Banggood for this particular?

about the LED INDICATOR on the light, when it’s RED i have to charge the batteries?

last, my model of MF-01 have the bottom ON-OFF little different from the other… it’s normal?

if there is other suggestion that i have to follow i am here to hear.

thanks to all.

1. Yes, you need a good charger like the XTAR VC4 or OPUS.

2. Since the Astrolux MF01 uses 4x18650, you want to buy 4x18650s, and use them in the same light, and charge them together for good performance and health for the batteries.

3. For the Astrolux MF01, good 18650s like the Samsung 30Q are recommended. You want button-top Samsung 30Qs. You can use other types of 18650s, but 4x Samsung 30Qs button top are recommended.

4. The small dirt particle is not significant, and will do anything bad in the light.

5. All Astrolux MF lights include that new button, so you do not need to worry.

6. When the button LED goes red, it is recommended to charge the 18650s, or switch to a lower brightness mode if you need it for more time outside for longer usage.

Samsung 30Q button top are good general batteries. They are also easy to find and pretty cheap. Here is a link to a sale for them. 4 button top for $16 plus couple dollars for shipping. I just bought these myself. Use the code when ordering to get the discount.

You don’t need an expensive charger. Some good ones are the Liitokala Lii-500 and Zanflare C4 (which are both 1 amp x 4). Both can be found for $20-$25 with coupons.

I would not get the VC4 as it is quite slow ((0.5 amp x 4). The Opus is a bit tricky. Some versions have noisy fans, etc…

You should always stay close to the batteries when charging for safety. They can be left in the charger, but try not to leave them in there overnight or unattended.

When using 4 batteries in this light make sure they are always at the same voltage before installing them. It’s best to fully charge them so you know they are all at the same voltage.

hi guys,

sorry for nothing new comment from me, but my little baby need all my attention, he is a very heartquake

he have a very strong batteries cell inside

first of all THANKS to all for the suggestion. i purchased the charger (LiitoKala) and the battries (Samsung 30Q) and i am still waiting for the delivery from Banggood, i hope to receive all the item before Christmas.

about the batteries, there is some particular suggestion to follow?

at the first use i need to charge the cells? or they are FULL 100% when delivered?

from the suggestion of BlueSwordM, about the ON/OFF switch button, when it light RED i have to charge the batteries (or step down the lumen)… reading the user manual i see also that when button is completely OFF (no light) the Voltage is under 5.8
in this case the batteries are again safe and i can charge the cells normally?

and again, about the batteries, i find the Sony / Murata Konion US18650VTC6 3120mAh - 30A button top
these cells are better respect the Samsung 30Q?

and last, where i can find the “strap loop” (not sure of my english, please see the photo)

forgot the o-ring inside the package, i have to placed these o-ring to the light? or these are “spare” o-ring?

thanks again to all.

P.S. i read that many users of led light buy a Voltage Tester… i need for this item?

@atomico

1. Since 18650s are not fully charged when shipped, you will have to charge them to get full power for the light.

2. If the button is red, that means that you should lower the brightness of the light, or recharge the 18650s.
If the button does not illuminate at all, you have to charge the 18650s to get the light working again, as it protects 18650s from full discharge. So, it is perfectly ok to charge 18650s when switch light is not on.

3. Not really. 30Qs are about as good as Sony VTC6 in almost all lights. There is no good difference, especially for higher Sony VTC6 cost.

4. The lanyard should be included in the box.

You can just tie it around the tripod loop.

5. These are replacement O-rings.

6. A multimeter is a useful tool. You should get one. Even a cheap one works:

You need AAA batteries for it.

thanks Sword for the info.

yes, i have the lanyard, what i do no find in the package is the “hook” to place to the light (posted in previous photo)

i have also the tripod adapter, but not the illustrated item on photo… it’s present in the MF-02 but not in my MF-01 package…

you have it?

Huh? The Astrolux MF01 is supposed to contain a tripod mount screw in the package.

And no, I only have a Haikelite MT09R which contains the same tripod mount screw.

Strange that you did not get the tripod hook screw.

this is what i have find inside the package:

seems that the MF-01 does not have the hook (i see other review for comparison)

surfing the net i find also another news about this light… it’s the same product of the MATEMINCO MT18… same design, same LED, same lumen… it’s a perfect clone… why???
what are the GENUINE light, Astrolux or Mateminco???

see here:
https://it.aliexpress.com/item/Super-Luminoso-Torcia-Elettrica-MATEMINCO-MT18-18-CREE-XP-G3-Nichia-219C-LED-MAX-12000LM-distanza/32835632427.html

googled for your HAIKELITE light, it’s a very good product. congratulation
these brand of light look very good, i find Haikelite with delay (find it after purchasing my MF-01), probably i buy the Q30 if find it before the Astrolux.

Mateminco is the manufacturer of Astrolux lights.

Mateminco MT18 = Astrolux MF01.

Be aware of the many potential issues with Haikelite brand.

hi guys,

suddenly I have a doubt (fear???): the batteries… the Samsung 30Q are UNprotected… i have read carefully all the suggestion to prevent some danger/explosion BUT yesterday i read some (very BAD) adventure of user of UNprotected cells…

i am little worried… probably follow step by step the user guide for handle the batteries is a right way… but if i want to use PROTECT cells inside this torch? i can? or need a modify?

thanks to all

I doubt that protected button tops will fit. With the plastic protection pieces in the battery carrier, you’ll most likely need button tops and the extra length of the protection circuit will make them too long. I use unprotected button tops in mine and they are a tight squeeze.

dont use protected cells in this light, that much lumens need unprotected batteries, if u are scared using this light with this combination then perhaps this light isnt for you maybe? there is no danger really if u are using quality cells and know what you are doing a little bit of knowledge handling this lights is good to have, the light is designed to drain alot of power thats why high drain unprotected batteries needed, protected will not work very good in this kind of light…

Only unprotected (flat and button top) 18650 are supported in Astrolux MF-series. Battery carrier does come with reverse polarity protection (plastic insulators near pin contacts) against batteries being loaded in wrong orientation. I would advise to add extra markings to your batteries, to help you identify the (+) and (-) poles if you are worried.
