Actually we did make a Q8 but we are not supposed to use “BLF”, just Sofirn Q8.
It comes with XPL HI leds, 6000-6500K tint, some small changes inside and outside. All the driver and UI are the same.
For the long battery tube, not ready yet. Because we need to redesign the battery carrier, make prototype and do tests.

PS:
I personally think design a new light inspired by BLF Q8 is better. Such as longer battery tube, you can use 4*18650 or 8*18650. And use same tube but different head like 4 XPL HI or 3 XHP35 HI or XHP50 or XHP70.2. Then you can purchase parts and make your dream light. Just personal ideas, not confirmed yet.
Perhaps a battery-tube design like Haikelite uses it would be possible too. But 8P and 2S4P Battery-Configurations are impossible with the design from Haikelite.
I only want to give you some inspirations. I am shure, you will use the best design, which is easy to produce and althogh easy to change battery-configurations / battery-voltage and to use different emitter-heads with it.
For Now, the threads of the Haikelite Battery-Tubes are the same as on the Q8. And they sell them together with flashlights as 4S or 2S2P. But they give no contact to the battery+ brass ring on the Q8-driver.
I thought about it, but I like 3*18650 more than 1*26650. And for batteries, more sparing conditions of work. I look closely to Fireflies ROT66, but its price is much larger than Q8.
As it seems to me 4*18650 goes beyond ergonomics. Q8 it is so successful that I have recommended it to my friends many times, but personally I’m somewhat uncomfortable.
Yeah, Neutral would be better for me as well. But, assuming Sofirn keeps the same mod-ability that the original Q8 has, it should be possible to change to whatever CCT is desired. If it’s the same size PCB, then even the size of the emitter can be changed by using a led4power Q8 MCPCB.
Seems pointless to even discuss right now. The only change they said they have made is putting in HI leds instead of HD. None of the other more interesting changes are even designed yet… If someone wants a neutral Q8 there is already the real original Q8 with HD leds that had an excellent combination of flood and throw already.
