I'm more of an under $20 (1x) AA/14500 flashlight kind-of-guy, so the Fireflies ROT66 didn't get past my initial perusal on BLF. But since you went to the trouble to send me links, I will check it out closer. The technology does seem interesting.
So, I decided to just buy additional SS AA/14500 flashlights (in neutral white) from Jackie, and most likely will gift them. BTW, the SS AA/14500 product page gives the impression that this flashlight fully supports 14500 batteries. Where did you get info to the contrary? Thanks!
Ordered Enogear Stainless Steel AA & TC8 Titanium Alloy CREE XPG3 650 Lumens flashlight yesterday. Going by comments above, I’m going to try to forget about it and get a nice Xmas present.
Got an email from Jackie Zhang (at enogear@hotmail.com) today stating that the above Aug 28th order was shipped today, Aug 30. It was sent via Hong Kong mail post with tracking. I believe that tracking is included with orders over $20 USD. The stated ETA is 15 - 30 days. I will try to post the actual arrival date.
So far Jackie has not replied to my question about the safety of using 14500 batteries with the SS AA/14500. But, given recent good feedback from this thread, I started running a 14500 in a NW tint model - with no problems so far. The 14500 battery provides a significant improvement in output. Of course, the flashlight gets warm in High. But I haven't run it long enough in this mode to see if it really gets hot, or if there is an automatic step down to Medium.
Anyone have beam comparison shots between the NW & CW models? I usually prefer NW, but not if it’s too warm looking. Definitely going to order one of these, just need to decide on the tint.
My Enogear SS AA/14500 in NW is significantly warmer than my Sofirn SF14 which advertises a color temperature of 5350 - 5700 K. My guess is that the NW tint is in the vicinity of 4000K. But it is very easy on the eyes, and is pleasant and soothing to look at.
Thanks for the beam shots, that helps a lot with my decision. The NW Enogear looks very similar to my OTR M3 in NW, which is supposedly 3800-4000K, and is just a little too warm for me. Think I’ll go with the CW version of the SS Enogear.
The two NW I tried looks about 4000k to me but it has no yellow unlike what you see in that beamshot above. The tint is about 5D, which to me is a major selling point because I like NW without any yellow or green. You should give it a try it is very beautiful. I like it more than the CW version that I have.
The Enogear AA/14500 flashlight, IMHO, is unique and a true collectible - and truly not that expensive for what you get. The only downside may be the wait. My first order took 48 days. But I have actually waited longer (i.e., 51 days) for goods purchased from BangGood.
That’s a great comparison. I didn’t realize the 219b sw40 is that rosy? I thought only the sw45 was. I’m guessing that’s 9080 right? It makes everything else look yellower than they appear in real life. The stock enogear NW looks rosy in real life but looks yellowish in your beam shot. Where did you get the 5D xml2? Is it 90CRI? It looks great.
