Clone of On The Road M3 ~$13

Got mine today, black with new UI. Warm white is warmer than XML2 4C, may be near 4000k. Standby current is only 0.5µA, lowest current I have seen ever.

I like mine . Hope they bring it back.Gone from site still.

u got link?

No link, as said earlier, it’s not on their site right now. Here is a link to the store, though. Jaxmnve store

Frankly, I think I’d rather have the real OTR M3 Pro because it’s UI is so much better. It’s about $25, so roughly double what the clone costs.

I didn’t have high expectations when I ordered mine but I find myself using it often . UI is not terrible. If you turn it off on high, it will memorize that level but if you short click it while off, you can cycle the modes while off . Thus a short press then a long would get you low. 2 short clicks then a long will get you med. A single long click will get you high. Kind of cool. Mine has perfect charging and the LVW works (no LVP).For it’s size, it puts out a decent amount of light. Run times are short though, to be expected with 16340 cell provided.I paid under $10 for it so I give it some slack.

The lack of any true low mode is what bothered me most. I would use the ramping and try to click on the lowest level I could. Then leave it there. :stuck_out_tongue:

I figured you were one of those guys that value low very much. I need all the light I can get due to retina problem so high and med. are important to me. Just a cute little light overall. I learned something the other day when I set it down on my laptop magnet side down. Don’t do this as the screen went out. Thankfully it turned back on after removing it and turning it on again. The magnetic field affected something inside.

I do like good value for money, but when things irritate me, it’s worth it to get rid of the irritation.

Like right now I need a good, small 90° head light. The Olight H1R seems to be the only choice that meets all my requirements. I may have to bite the bullet and pay the $70.

So $25 is not much at all for the M3 Pro. Plus it’s brighter than the clone. I measure about 400 lumen from the clone. The older M3 gave me 770 lumen. The new version I just ordered is supposed to be a bit brighter than the old version. So maybe 800 lumen. It really is a good little light.

I only switched to the clone because the M3 didn’t have built in charging, but the new one has it. So I’m switching back.

Stop, now you are making me want one and the wife says enough for awhile. I think I will buy Narsil only in the future to make it easier to remember and to teach my wife . Right now the dual switch lights seem easiest to teach novice. On/off at tail and l-m-h on the side . Long click, short click, single, double, triple…Yikes. How did I get on this. Sorry.

There’s very few Narsil based lights on the market, unless you make your own.

Yes , do you by chance know if a Sofirn C8F can be converted? That would be a nice change.

Yes, both the 18650 and the new 21700 version can be converted. You just need to order a driver from Lexel. The 18650 version uses a 17mm driver and the 21700 version uses a 20mm driver.

The new 21700 version also has a new UI that includes ramping. So far it doesn’t seem to be as good as Narsil but it operates in a similar fashion. When in the ramping mode you can turn it on and off with a single click. Then you press and hold to either ramp up or ramp down. A double click takes you to Turbo.

Ok , thanks . Lexil it is.

Never changed a driver on a side switch light . Pretty straight forward on the C8F?

Only a couple people have recieved their 21700 model so far, I havent got mine yet. It should be straight forward, but we don’t know if anything is glued or not.

You’ll need to solder the switch wires to the driver is the only extra step.

Thanks . I started playing around with my C8F last night after talking about it . I forgot how great a light it is. Narsil would make it perfect.

I guess you didn’t affect something inside. You triggered the “lid closed sensor”. The corresponding magnet for it is in the bezel of the screen.
Everything is fine

But I wouldn’t place it on a regular hard drive.

Olight has on some days per year reduced prices.
They have flash sales.
You can subscribe here https://www.olightstore.com

what would it take to get a better ui, & is the cost more than an OTR m3 pro or u16?

as is, the stepping seems like it was designed by someone who never used a flashlight.

You must not have read this thread.
You need to be an expert to do it. Just go through this thread and you’ll see how hard it is. Look for the pictures.

The OTR lights are much, much cheaper than modding it yourself. Even the Olights are probably cheaper than modding it.

I would really like to see a BLF project for a 16340 light using NarsilM. No luck yet.
